The only good thing about this apartment building is the location. I’ve never encountered a management team that is so bad at their jobs. They are so unhelpful, dismissive, and incompetent. They cannot respond to an email or phone call. Never sent me any information about my apartment prior to move-in, no lease or anything. The billing statements are also constantly a mess and inaccurate. Maintenance requests take forever to be addressed (if they are even acknowledged at all). I cannot recommend living here, other than once again for the location. Proceed at your own risk.

Great location and the property managers are all very nice. The amenities are good for what they need to be.

When I originally contacted this place, they were very communicative and friendly. Nicole in particular. It was May/June and I was looking for an apartment in August. I got on the waitlist, applied and paid the application fee, and then was contacted about an apartment being available, all I had to do was "reserve" it. So I did, and I was told they would send over the move-in documents at the middle/end of July. It's now almost the beginning of August and this complex has completely disappeared on me. I live out of state currently and have been banking on living here, but as my move-in date approaches (two weeks away) I started to get nervous because I hadn't heard anything. A week and a half ago, I called the complex about 10 times over the course of two days. I was always sent to voicemail and the mailbox is full. I sent an email, asking when I would get the move-in documents. I got a one line email back saying "Yes! Next week" and now it's been longer than that. I've heard nothing. Have tried to call almost every day and can't get anyone on the phone. This has just been an extremely stressful experience. I'm supposed to move from Georgia to Michigan in 2 weeks. I'm going to live somewhere else. (Another complex got back to me within 10 minutes.) Also, they don't have parking, it's some other company that owns the garage, so if you have a car you might not be able to park it at your home. I reached out to that company and was told they had no more spots available, so I was going to be out of luck there anyway. It's a shame. I do want to say that when they did communicate with me, Nicole was always awesome and friendly and took lots of time with me. But this has just been a weird experience and not what I have wanted to deal with among the stress of moving states.

I’ve lived at the Ann Arbor City Club Apartments for 12 years and I am one of the very first tenants, so if anyone has the skinny on this building I’d say it’s me. If you work downtown and love Ann Arbor, this is the most central location, and super-convenient for restaurants, night life, events, and shopping. It would be amazing if someone (Plum, Whole Foods, Busch’s) built a downtown supermarket (although the Food Co-op is a walk away); otherwise, you’d barely need to use a car. The current management team, led by Jessica, is responsive, hands-on, and genuinely cares about residents. Nicole, at the front desk, has been a welcoming and reliable presence for over a decade – she’s top notch. The maintenance crew, led by Mike and Ian, is excellent – quick and thorough. Fingers crossed the current team stays in place, as consistency makes a difference. Parking in the lower level is a huge plus. I can only speak for my unit, and it is quiet and has a spectacular view. The resident community is friendly, respectful, and diverse – working professionals of all ages and backgrounds, with a handful of UM master’s and PhD candidates. The building has amenities, especially the Sky Lounge, gym, and Zen Garden, but they are rarely used – the West Side is perfect for taking walks, and the Y is less than a block away. U-M’s central campus and the stadium is a ten minute walk, but feels like a world away. Life on the West Side, just one block from Main Street, is the best life! Now to the criticisms: due to the downtown location, there needs to be security cameras at all entrances to the building. Ann Arbor is generally safe, but property theft is an issue everywhere in the U.S. – and Ann Arbor is not immune. Parking has cameras at the entrance and egress - the apartment building should also have this! This is the fundamental concern of many of the residents. Also, the building must improve the air returns and filtration system to reduce dust. With so much ongoing downtown construction, cleaner air circulation would make a big difference. Overall, I'm a happy resident - and would be ecstatic if they'd address my common concerns.

Really really terrible experience. This review is only in reference to the applicaiton and waitlist process - we didn't become tenants of the building. Started the process in February for an intended August move-in. Flew in to see the building from out of state, went on a tour and was strongarmed into a $350 waitlist fee. It's shocking to me that this fee is not illegal. The fee is a nonrefundable amount that entitles you to get on an availability waitlist. If the management offers you your top three floorplans in a month timeframe of your intended move-in date and you choose not to move in, they keep the fee. We sent them monthly emails with no response or updates on the process. Between March and July we never got an email back with an inventory update, or any other correspondance. Once in a while we'd get an inventory offer that had nothing to do with our top 3 preferences. As our August move-date approached, we had no choice but to look for a new apartment. Before we signed a lease in another town we sent two emails updating them of our situation, reminding them we were keen to move-in and checking if they expected any inventory. No answer. Two weeks from our move date we got a head's up that our second choice floorplan was available for a move in 14 days later. When we suggested that was an inappropriate timeframe, and we had been ignored the months prior, we got a standard "that's our policy." We asked to speak to someone else from management - a name and number were provided, but the number was the same number to the main office and after 3 voicemails we never got a call back. We're not even sure this person exists. WIth such blatent thievery and disrespect during the application process, I can't imagine what being a tenant would be like. Never saw that $350 again.
