I quickly and successfully completed a cash out refi on my primary residancy to buy a condo in colo. The wintrust broker suggested that proccess , saving my 2.5 % interest on the life of the mortgage..and it was all done in about 25 days..no problems.

I attempted to use WinTrust for my first home purchase and was referred directly to Ryan Mecum. I found the exact place I wanted and submitted an offer immediately. Ryan passed my file on to someone named Dave Buckman who proceeded with the IDHA loan application process. A week later they asked me to pay for the appraisal, which I did. I paid for my housing inspection and paid for the year's worth of hazard insurance as required by the program. They waited until a week before the deadline for the financing to order the condo association questionnaire. The questionnaire should have been ordered the very first week of this process especially since they had foreknowledge that this document could take a long time to get back and had the potential to stop the process for any number of reasons. Once they received the questionnaire back they waited until 2 days before the deadline to inform me that the IDHA program rejected the application due to the condo association's unpaid back assessments. The closing date set by the selling bank was set for the following Wednesday. The only help that was offered to me was some other Wintrust program that required a minimum of 10 days to convert the application. I contacted a bank under the Freddie Mac Homesteps program to start that process with hopes that the selling bank would grant an extension on the deadline. The bank denied any and all extensions and the contract had to be terminated to save my earnest money. Had they moved on the questionnaire sooner, we would have had time to look into other options. Instead, I lost the house and now have to begin my search all over again. I received only a single response from Dave telling me to refer to Ryan and I have yet to receive any response from him. I lost the house I wanted due to the incompetency of this staff. WinTrust FAILED to win my trust. I would not suggest using this company for your mortgage needs
