Was in town for a week to tour apartments and did not even know 55 elm was an existing complex until it was recommended to me while in town; thankfully Kamila D was kind enough to let me book a same day tour and explained all the amenities to me. She was extremely kind, patient, and answered all my questions.
I do not plan to move out until the summer, but I can confirm that my touring experience was lovely and in-depth. When I walked into the show-room I started crying because it was the exact right amount of cozy and modern that I had been hoping for. All the staff was welcoming and kind, also very knowledgeable about the history of the property! On top of that, I’m very particular and can vouch that the lobby and units met my expectations for the type of modern complex I was looking for. Everything felt clean and luxurious!

My entire experience with 55 Elm Street was bad from the very beginning. Looking back, I should have seen the warning signs early on, but unfortunately, I chose to ignore them.
Our very first scheduled walkthrough was a mess—no one showed up, and we never received a call or email to reschedule. Despite that, we moved forward and selected an apartment and placed a deposit. About a month before our move-in date, we received an email stating the unit would not be ready. At that point, we were forced to compromise by choosing a smaller apartment and giving up the Bushnell Park view we originally wanted.
Then, the same week we were supposed to move in, we received another call saying the boilers were down and that no one could move in at all. Thankfully, because I had a good relationship with the staff at 55 Trumbull, they allowed us to stay an extra month there—even though our lease had already ended.
This situation dragged on for another two months, with repeated updates saying the apartments still weren’t ready. Eventually, we were offered yet another unit, which was significantly smaller than anything previously discussed. Accepting it would have required us to get rid of most of our furniture, which was completely unreasonable.
At that point, we decided enough was enough and chose not to move forward. Amanda assured us this was okay and that we would receive a full refund of our deposit and fees. It has now been over a month, and we still have not received our money back. We’ve called, left voicemails, and sent emails with no response whatsoever.
I genuinely don’t understand why this building had a ribbon-cutting or was marketed as a “big new thing” when it clearly wasn’t ready. At this point, all I want is my money returned—ASAP.
I would strongly caution anyone considering 55 Elm Street to think twice and be very careful before putting down a deposit.

If you’re looking for a place to live, I genuinely recommend moving here. Amanda is absolutely amazing, friendly, professional, and quick to respond. The building is well-maintained, clean, and welcoming, and you can tell the team takes pride in the way everything looks. Overall it’s been a great experience living here and I’d absolutely encourage anyone looking for a new apartment to check this place out especially if you’re a young adult working in surrounding areas! And don’t be scared to ask about move in specials.

The prices? Seriously.
How are single people expected to live on their own? We are in an affordability crisis, why are these developers so out of touch?

I've been living at this apartment complex for a couple of days now and I absolutely love it! The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help with any concerns. Maintenance requests are handled promptly and professionally, and the grounds are kept meticulously clean even thou there is construction still taking place. The apartments themselves are spacious and well-designed, and the neighborhood is quiet and conveniently located in the heart of downtown Hartford near shops and public transportation. I must shout out the leasing manager Jermaine who make miracles happen.
