  I can’t express how deeply regretful I am for choosing Wells Fargo for our mortgage. This experience has been a complete disaster, and I wish I could give them a negative rating. Deceptive Business Practices: Our mortgage banker, Sonia Walia, lured us in with promises of competitive rates and quick closings, only to deliver a “bait and switch” that nearly derailed the entire deal. I initially had a lender ready to offer relationship pricing, and she assured me she could match that and close in 14 days. We ended up closing in 21 days, which is just the start of the issues. False Advertising: Sonia failed to mention crucial details about the relationship discount until less than a week before closing. I was told I needed to transfer $500k for the discount, but once I did, she revealed the requirement was actually $800k. When I pressed for clarification, her response was to point me to her website, which has vague disclaimers. This lack of transparency left us feeling blindsided and anxious about the entire process. Lazy Customer Service: I was diligent in responding to every underwriting request, providing organized documentation. Instead of appreciation, I was met with frantic calls about “too much documentation” and requests to resubmit the same information multiple times. Additionally, I had clearly communicated that we wanted to purchase the home in the name of our trust from the start, yet Sonia forgot about this and claimed it would delay the closing. As a result, we had to forfeit something we had planned on. This entire experience has been riddled with incompetence and frustration. I should have stuck with Morgan Stanley as I initially planned. Choosing Wells Fargo has been my biggest mistake, and I would strongly advise others to look for a more trustworthy lender. Save yourself the headache!
