To Whom It May Concern,
I am filing a formal complaint regarding the treatment I received from Wells Fargo while traveling abroad. I recently traveled to Thailand, and my card worked for several days before suddenly being declined for “fraud concerns.” I immediately verified the transactions with Wells Fargo and was told my card was cleared. Despite this, the card continued to decline, especially with the merchant Grab.
Wells Fargo representatives repeatedly gave me contradictory explanations—telling me the merchant was reverting the payment—while the merchant confirmed that Wells Fargo was declining the transactions. This left me stranded in a foreign country without access to essential transportation or services.
When I explained that I was a disabled veteran traveling alone and asked for additional support, including a three-way call with the merchant to resolve the conflicting information, I was told Wells Fargo would “hang up on me” if I attempted that. I was also told the situation was “my responsibility” to figure out. This was dismissive, unprofessional, and placed me in an unsafe position.
Out of desperation, I contacted Capital One, who immediately helped me resolve the issue and ensured I was not stranded. Their support highlighted how poorly Wells Fargo handled this situation.
I am requesting a sincere written apology, a review of the customer service interactions, and assurance that corrective measures will be taken to prevent this from happening to other customers. No one, especially a disabled veteran traveling abroad, should be left without access to their own funds after verifying legitimate transactions.
Sincerely,
John Sansonetti

Years ago, Wells Fargo merged with a financial institution that did a sloppy job foreclosing on a property that eventually ended up being my property and home. That poor quality work led to the prior owner sensing an opportunity and hiring an attorney to sue me out of my home. I reached out to Wells Fargo for help since they coincidentally and ironically are the holder of my mortgage. Their legal department immediately stonewalled me. Fortunately, I was able to dig up my title insurance policy and they secured an attorney that led to a ruling in my favor. May I also mention that Wells Fargo's legal department piggybacked on the attorney's work instead of doing any heavy lifting themselves. I consider this institution callous, lazy, inept and that they haven't come very far from their days of fraud. Please keep reading for the pretentious response they'll give in response.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. Every time I call I get an automated bot to talk too. It is getting better, but it's just a bot. And it's still quite stupid. I got what I needed but I hate talking to bots. You have to speak plainly and monotone. Or repeats itself as if you never spoke. Down with bots, down with bots.
Oh and I paid off my credit card last month and they charged me interest. Of course I called and they gave me some lame excuse. Now that call was at least a human who then reversed the charges, as a courtesy.
I know the 72k I charge every year and my 100k Mortgage are nothing to Wells Fargo, but I am looking elsewhere.
