The community is clean, modern, and well-maintained, with a layout that feels both comfortable and thoughtfully designed. The amenities are a big plus, and everything is kept in great condition.
The management and leasing team are professional, responsive, and genuinely care about residents. Maintenance requests are handled quickly and efficiently, which makes a huge difference in day-to-day living. Communication is clear, and the team does a great job keeping residents informed.
The location is another standout—convenient, walkable, and close to great dining, shopping, and outdoor spaces. Overall, Vela Apartment Homes offers a high-quality living experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a well-run community with a welcoming atmosphere.
Vela Apartments sent me a bad check after I moved out. I deposited a check they sent me and it bounced.

Was going to move here, but due to unfortunate events I had to withdraw from my holding deposit. I contacted Ashley from management via email and this lady seems clueless.. I tried to be respectful and reasonable with them, it’s only $200 but in the current status of the economy $200 is $200. Since I didn’t have a permanent residence I asked to have the holding deposit check sent to Vela and I pick it up. She ensured me she would, fast forward over 20 days later when I asked for a refund status she told me that the check was mailed to my prior address that’s on file. Mind you I have no connection with that apartment no more and don’t have access to the mail. She just gave me some run around apology I’m so grateful I didn’t move here and have to deal with this clueless management. I still hope I can or will get my money back.
I wish I had paid attention to the reviews on this building before I moved in. I have continued to be very patient and empathetic with the building and staff because they constantly repeat that management has changed. But, it’s been close to a year and almost nothing has improved.
On day 1 of my lease, my front door was missing a deadbolt. They assured me that it would be installed that same day or within the week. Fast forward 9 months later and my front door is still missing a deadbolt. Which is obviously illegal. My AC also doesn’t work and my washer and Dryer cut off 5 minutes after they start up. Basically, the unit looks nice but it’s not habitable.
I’ve put in more maintenance requests than I can count and they were all basically ignored or an excuse was given for why the repairs hadn’t happened. Since they don’t answer the phone here (and I can’t use the resident portal) all of these requests I made were in person directly to staff members and there was still little to no progress.
I’ve only recently (and I’ve been here for several months) gotten more definitive info about repairs after having to contact higher mgmt about a more serious issue I’ve been going through with this building because on site management would literally ghost my emails or give me the run around. The only reason why I haven’t left this building is because the tenants are on the hook for 2.5x rent for breaking the lease. And now I see why.
Since I’ve moved in, management hasn’t been able to sign me up for their online resident portal for some reason. I’ve tried numerous times with a few different staff members and there’s always a system error that won’t allow me to sign up. So, I’ve had to mail in certified funds. That was fine until it wasn’t. I started getting the run around about checks that I had delivered to their front office via UPS signature delivery. Miscellaneous charges started getting added to my account, and when I requested to see my tenant ledger (since I can’t login to the online portal) the conversation is always redirected.
So, not only have they not provided a habitable apartment, they’ve made it extremely difficult for me at every turn.
This has been possibly the worst experience I’ve had living anywhere. The way things are ran here will give you a full on migraine. There’s times where I feel like I’m working in management here because of how many times I’ve emailed and called them about this apartment. It’s really pretty crazy.
