We lived here for two years and it was overall a very positive experience. There was a bit of a rough spot when the new management company took over since it interrupted the way we’d been paying our rent using Flex, but it was quickly resolved.
Our only issue is with the price. We were paying just short of $3100/month for a 2bed2bath (approx 1000 sqft). The apartment itself was great and the walls were thick enough that you didn’t really hear your neighbors. However, the amenities left a bit to be desired. The pool was nice, but the gym was super tiny. The mailboxes were all located near the leasing office at the bottom of the hill but there was almost never any way to park near them so you just had to put your hazards on and try not to block traffic. We lived at the top of the hill and it’s a steep walk. There’s also barely any guest parking and it’s only near the leasing office. For the assigned spots, they’re usually not a problem unless you have a big car. Or if the people beside you have big cars. The garage space is pretty narrow so you may not be able to park inside if you have a large car either.
The community installed a new thermostat, new locks, and a leak sensor that were all controlled through your phone. This was mostly positive aside from a few issues. One of the frequent problems we had was the thermostat not responding to input from the phone for weeks at a time. A second issue was with the leak sensor. It frequently went off despite there being no leak and sending a message that maintenance would be notified. Thankfully these were false alarms since maintenance never came to check them. Lastly, the electronic locks were overall pretty great, but there was no backup for situations where the power went out. If you were out of the house and the power went out, you would be locked out of your home. If your phone was dead, you would not be able to unlock it remotely and would have to hope that you remembered the 6 digit code. I never managed to memorize mine.
The maintenance team was great, though we had frequent issues with our fridge and dishwasher that never got resolved. The fridge would have water drip and would occasionally ruin groceries. Every time we reached out to maintenance, they told us to make sure we weren’t overstocking the freezer, even if our freezer was almost empty. The dishwasher also consistently wouldn’t dissolve the pod so the dishes weren’t getting fully clean. The only advice we were given was to make sure we weren’t blocking the door on the inside from opening, but nothing seemed to help.
Overall, we really liked the apartment but paying over $3000 a month was just not sustainable. For a luxury apartment at luxury prices, I would expect better of the amenities and parking situation. At our new location (now living in Tierrasanta only about 15 minutes away) we’re paying around $400 less per month with significantly better parking, the same size unit, and far more accessible amenities.
If I could give zero stars I would, Sofi Canyon Hills management needs to do better for their residents. My post is to long, please see photos

Scheduled a self-guided tour of this apartment complex in the evening. We get there and there's no place to park. The three spaces they have reserved for future residents are occupied. The three visitor spaces are also occupied. I don't want to get towed, so I call the office from my car and ask for help.
Someone comes out and advises me to park by the red fire lane curb with my hazard lights lights on and just tour the two-bedroom model unit (not even the floor plan we wanted, we wanted a three bedroom). We aren't given an access code to enter the model unit so we don't get to see it.
Before giving up, we decide to walk around and try to find the three-bedroom unit that I was given an access code for. The numbering on the apartments are unintuitive. We haven't been given a map to find where we need to go. It's also dark and hard to see the numbers on the buildings at all. In the end, we gave up and didn't see any apartments in this community. Kind of glad I didn't waste more than thirty minutes on this neighborhood, so I'm leaving two stars.
I have had a great experience today with Latoya, she is the best. She should get a raise. God Bless, Don Carson

Maintenance has been very supportive, when we first got here the A/C did not work, it was a new A/C installed after the last people had moved out. We requested to get it fixed and they told us it would take weeks to get it repaired. Later we got an updated no more than a week saying it was fixed!
