DO NOT LIVE HERE. The ONLY redeeming qualities of this complex were the maintenance staff and their leasing agent Norma. They previously had 2 members of their groundskeeping staff quit due to how genuinely disrespectful the previous manager Tammy is, whom FPI Management decided to send to The Veranda in La Jolla as a Community Director instead of firing her. Monica has been nothing but disrespectful and dismissive to my husband and I every time we have had the displeasure of coming to her with an issue, and they are all willing to lie directly to your face if it gets you to leave them alone, and then do absolutely nothing. They won’t respond to your emails for weeks if not MONTHS. Incredibly incompetent. The apartments themselves are mediocre at best, and management will do the absolute bare minimum to prepare your apartment. You’re truly getting the landlord special. When we moved in last October our carpets absolutely reeked of ammonia, to the point that I began experiencing respiratory issues due to how pungent the odor was that wound up putting me in Urgent Care. When we finally got them to replace our carpets around Christmas time, we discovered a plethora of mold on the bottom of our 2-month-old mattress. Management refused to help us with the issue until after the holidays, so my husband and I were forced to spend our Christmas on an air mattress. The “compensation” hardly covered the cost of a new mattress, let alone the medical bills we were left with. There are kids constantly running around the entire complex and screaming bloody murder for hours without a single parent in sight, which is incredibly concerning considering our proximity to a busy road as well as the two homeless people that prowl the property likely under the influence of substances while screaming at the top of their lungs, one of them with his pants hanging so low that he is nearly exposing his genitals. Management is fully aware of all this, yet they’re somehow incapable of holding parents accountable for keeping their elementary-age children safe. They will, however, go out of their way to step outside of their office and tell your kids to be quiet while you’re using the pool. Their only suggestion for us regarding the homeless man was to confront him ourselves. Their focus is PURELY cosmetic. They have done absolutely nothing to improve the quality of living here. It begs the question where FPI Management’s priorities lie, considering this is the third manager that has been assigned to this property in the span of a year that my husband and I have had a lease here. We are SO happy to be rid of this cesspool of mold, disrespect, and incompetence. Don’t make the same mistake we did.
