HONEST Review: Please Read Before Moving In
I lived here for one year, and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Please don’t be misled by the five-star reviews. Most of them come from accounts with only one review, which makes it clear they are fake.
The building is not clean. There are rats, mold, and a constant smell that never goes away. Maintenance requests take forever or are ignored completely.
One night, I woke up to police cars blocking the entire street. I heard a noise in the living room and thought it was my roommate, but it turned out that a criminal had jumped from the upstairs unit onto our balcony and escaped through our apartment. The police showed me the curtain he used to climb down. If I had been in the living room at that moment, I could have come face-to-face with him. It was terrifying and showed how unsafe this place really is (SEE THE PHOTOS)
The management at the time, Greystar, confirmed that I would get my $250 security deposit back in full. They kept delaying it for months, and then the management suddenly changed to Cardinal. The new team told me I had to deal with the old management, and no one ever responded to my emails or calls. I never got my money back.
Before signing a lease here, please read what others have written and check online discussions about Greystar and Cardinal. There are many similar stories about how they take advantage of students.
If you want a year full of stress, poor living conditions, and an endless fight to get your own money back, this is the place. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble and look somewhere else.

We moved into our apartment at Lost City Center in Tuscaloosa earlier this year, and it was filthy with visible mold from previous tenants. We cleaned what we could ourselves, but there’s still one side that’s covered in mold and old belongings that weren’t ours. Management said it’s not their problem, even though it was here before we moved in. We have photos and documentation extremely disappointed in how this was handled!

I strongly advise against living at this apartment complex. Since moving in, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative due to extremely poor management and a complete lack of organization.
Shortly after I signed my lease, the property underwent a change in management. However, I was never notified of this change, nor was I informed of any updates to the lease agreement or that the monthly charges would be different from what I had originally agreed to. This lack of transparency has led to ongoing confusion and inconsistent billing, with little to no explanation provided.
Communication with management has been frustrating, and issues are rarely addressed or resolved in a timely manner—if at all. The level of disorganization is staggering, and there seems to be a constant discrepancy between what is communicated and what actually occurs.
Additionally, my move-in experience was unacceptable. The apartment was left in a filthy condition, with black sticky residue on the floors, hair throughout the carpet, urine on the toilet seat and bathroom floor, and dirt and bugs scattered everywhere. It was clear that no proper cleaning had been done prior to my arrival.
In all my years of renting, this has been by far the most difficult and disappointing experience I’ve had. I would not recommend this property to anyone.
