I specifically told the salesperson that I don’t have an Xbox and don’t watch football, but they insisted it was free and that I could do whatever I wanted with it. I even said that once I receive the items, I’d just bring them back for them to use. Later, I found out from Verizon customer service that redeeming those “free” offers actually triggered a $480 charge, which I was never told about at the store. I didn’t even use the offers — just redeemed them because the salesperson said it was part of the process. To make matters worse, the internet service didn’t work properly in my area (I was only getting 4G instead of 5G speeds), so I had to cancel. I paid about $150 for the first month across two locations, but the real issue was that no one warned me not to activate the promotional offers until I was sure I would keep the service. The team was polite, but there needs to be better communication and transparency about these promotions. Customers shouldn’t be misled into activating something that looks free but later results in unexpected charges.
