Staff is kind and welcoming however I wasn’t asked if I wanted to have a dewormer administered to my puppy and they just did it and charged me for it without first getting my permission. I’m pretty low income so adding things to the bill that I didn’t authorize is a huge deal for me and my family. I gave two stars instead of just one for the staff only. I wish I had said something at the time of payment but there were so many questions and information being thrown at me all at once and it feels like they’re banking on you not noticing. Definitely got the vibe of it being a money grab situation. Vaccine here was also more than twice as much as previous one at a different clinic.

This place is nothing but a money grab, not only are they a money grab, but they're discriminatory. I gave this place a chance for over a year. I rescued 2 strays that ended up in a shelter and the minute one vet yelled at me that they shouldn't have put "boxer mix" on my girl dog and that she was a "staffy/pit", honest to God, I should have ran. That brings me to why I'd give a 1 star after over a year. I had an appointment for my girl dog. For vaccinations and general wellness. She's a rescue as I stated and HATES this place. HATE isn't even a strong enough word (she has a new vet clinic, a proper vet clinic with NO anxiety so that tells me this place is filled with fake, smile to your face people). She was whining at the cat decor on a shelf, wanted to run out the door. I don't want to be there either considering one appt would take my ENTIRE day off since these people are slower than sap trying to drip during an Alaskan winter. They asked if I gave her anxiety medicine. I said I was never given medicine to calm her, unless I was supposed to pull it out of my magic bag. The two techs, especially the old one, were shooting daggers as they tell me they're not going to see her, mentioning her breed and she needs to be calm. Again I addressed the fact that I told them that SEVERAL times prior because she HATES this place and they gave me NOTHING. I was held there an HOUR and a HALF while they talk to each other trying to get a bag of 2 prescriptions for she can be drugged to the point where my 40 lbs dog would be immobile. With directions to start meds the night before, the next day prior and include MELATONIN. Even her new vet doesn't understand why such high doses to have to start giving meds the night before into the day of the apportionment, but whole other story. They charged me over $100 for NOTHING. Their customer service sucks. You'll be there ALL day for nothing, wasting your time, while they charge you HUNDREDS telling you to "get insurance." If you have a breed they don't like, you'll know. You'll be treated like we were. I'm so thankful our new vet wouldn't dream of treating my dogs like this. They're no longer in a situation where they feel the need to panic and run for the door. I should have ran for the door after our first appointment. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got a new vet. Now we don't need extra meds, we don't need nuzzles, we don't havs panic episods while running for the door. You all need to do better. Teach better bedside manner. So glad I'm done with this place. I'm disgusted how they think treating dogs and their owners in a snotty manner is okay.

Yikes. Just a money grab - ordering unnecessary tests for my healthy dogs. Simparica Trio is 100% effective against heartworm per the drug information packet that comes with the medicine; the vet tech yelled at me saying it was not 100% effective even though the medicine information sheet clearly says it is. VCA kept saying it’s their policy to still test for heartworm. They were unwilling to provide evidence based care and just wanted to charge us for multiple lab draws. They seem to forget that we’re all on the same team of wanting what’s best for our animals. The receptionist is very kind but everyone else seems to not care about the animals at all. Money grab #2 - they refused to honor the free first exam for your pet flyer. One of our dogs was already a patient at a different VCA location but our other dog was new to VCA entirely. They are more concerned about money and office policies than doing the right thing.
