I visited this Victra Verizon store to purchase a phone and was assisted by Tamarja. I clearly stated that I did not want the Setup & Go service and that I was fully capable of setting up my phone myself. Despite this, Tamarja told me that she “had to” perform the setup anyway and proceeded even after I objected. I was then charged a $40 Setup & Go fee, even though I did not need or request any setup services. To be clear, setup and activation are two different things. Activation—turning the phone on and confirming it can make calls—is part of the employee’s job when selling a phone. I was told I was being charged for “setup,” yet nothing beyond basic activation was needed or requested. After leaving the store, I called Verizon directly to confirm that the Setup & Go service is optional and that customers are allowed to set up their phones themselves, which Verizon confirmed. I later returned to the store to request a refund for the $40 charge. Even then, Tamarja told her manager that I believed I was billed incorrectly, while continuing to justify the charge by saying she had to turn on the phone and ensure it could make calls—completely ignoring the fact that I repeatedly said I did not want the Setup & Go service. She also asked her manager twice in front of me if the fee could be waived, and both times he said yes, yet I was still charged. I understand that add-on services are part of how authorized retailers make money—I’ve worked in similar roles myself—but misrepresenting optional services as mandatory and charging customers without consent is unacceptable. Being told an optional service was required, and being charged for it anyway, is misleading. Customers deserve transparency and a real choice. I strongly recommend just not going to the store if this is what they allow.

Shout out to Dylan and Noah! Finally! After over a month spending hours on the phone on several occasions with technical support, even with tier two level support trying desperately to connect my new Apple Watch to cellular service! I even visited a Verizon store in Matthews NC and my problem wasn’t resolved. So on November 4, 2025 I decided to go to the Verizon store here at 9020 Albemarle Rd. in Charlotte NC without an appointment. I was immediately greeted by Dylan and was assured I would be help as he finished with a customer he was assisting. After a few short minutes, Dylan asked how he could assist me. I spent time providing the problem and history that I’ve had since receiving the Apple Watch. Once I revealed I had spoken to tier two support, both Dylan and Noah who overheard me looked at each other. One of them stated if tier two level support didn’t resolve the issue, we certainly may not be able to. I informed them that I’d like them to try and I wouldn’t hold it against them if they were unsuccessful. Between the two of them, they resolved my issue within a reasonable amount of time. I left this store completely satisfied and with my Apple Watch on cellular service and paired to my iPhone! These two gentlemen are more than deserving for promotion and pay raises!
