I went to the emergency department for a severe migraine. The receptionist was incredible. Such a kind lady. The ER doctor was wonderful as well. I must say though the male nurse I encountered was very unpleasant. He acted like he hated his job. Absolutely no bedside manner or compassion was shown even when he blew two veins and i was scared wondering what was happening. He was putting an IV in without gloves which I thought was odd. One of the IV failed spots bled profusely through the bandage and that was when he decided to put gloves on. I was very shocked he said he had 27 years experience with most of it being in ambulance medicine. That was the only reassuring thing reassuring me. I have never had an IV placement hurt the way it did. I didn't need to be coddled but he was pretty silent except for saying things like "that might be all the blood your going to give me. Hmmm" with no further explanation. When I asked for things to be explained it was almost as if he seemed bothered.

I have the flu again so memories of my awful experience on 1/2/2022 have been bothering me. First of all I asked my husband to promise to never take me to Monticello hospital in an emergency ever again. It was the late stages of the pandemic so I was aware that going to the emergency room was a last resort since they had been dealing with COVID. I got that. I made sure to be very aware of explaining that I didn’t have COVID but was following all protocols. The admitting person was some level beyond rude there isn’t even a word for. She literally yelled at me to verbally tell her my address so she didn’t have to read it off my license. After that I had one male doctor and 3 or 4 female nurses. One nurse was kind. 2 were really rude. My pain level was 7-8 when I got there and 7-8 when I left. I had absolutely no benefit to coming in for treatment. All I got was treated like I should be fine and just had the flu from the doctor and 2 nurses. He had a second of interest when I told him about vomiting red blood but still sent me home in as much pain as I got there. I spent $$ for nothing. All I got was rude and weird comments and banal treatment that did no good. I don’t know if they were just beyond caring or thought I was addicted to pain medication or something but they did nothing to ease the stomach pain. I know now the treatment that would have worked was an anesthetic like novacaine in a solution like Maalox to calm the stomach walls. But instead I got thousand of $ in bills and no relief whatsoever. I spent two more days afterward not being able to sleep or eat due to the pain in my stomach. This was one of the worst days of my life. Thanks Dr Dean Stulz for making me pay $$ for being treated like a liar, baby, faker, I don’t know what, when all I needed was something to ease that severe stomach pain.
