In reality, she is being charged $24.05 per month. No paperwork or documentation was provided to her at the time of purchase. While that alone is concerning, the larger issue came to light three days later when I helped her set up an online account. We discovered that a fourth line with a new iPhone had been added to her account without her consent. She never authorized this, nor does she need an additional line. Reviewing her November bill confirmed that this line did not exist prior to her visit. When I called the store, the employee who answered immediately knew the situation and who I was referring to, before I even provided her name, account number, or phone number. He sent a push notification to access the account, reviewed it, and then offered an excuse: “I wasn’t there that day, I’m not sure what promotion she got. I can’t help you, I’m not authorized to remove the additional line or phone. You’ll need to come into the store.” Despite claiming he couldn’t assist, he clearly recognized the issue without any identifying information from me. I will be escalating this matter to a regional manager and filing a formal complaint against this store. Chestertown has a reputation for questionable practices and repeated complaints of unauthorized services. With incidents like this, it is unacceptable that the store continues to operate.
