The rep helping me (Cody) told me the transfer issue I was having was “uncommon” and that he had “never dealt with that before,” even though this is a well‑documented and common problem with Quick Start transfers. This issue is so common and well documented that Apple even has a whole page on how to work around this specific issue. When the wireless transfer failed, I asked about using a wired transfer, and he told me it “wasn’t reliable and wouldn’t work,” which I later learned is not accurate. Instead of trying any alternative methods, he told me to take the phone home and do the transfer myself through iCloud. The transfer I did from my iCloud took over 6 hours to complete, 5 hours downloading data from my old phone and an hour for my new phone to upload it. He then left at 7 pm for his second job, and the service I paid for was never completed. I had to return the next day to drop off my old phone for the trade‑in and request a refund myself, since it wasn’t offered at the time the service failed. I did receive the refund, but the overall experience felt rushed and dismissive. I would have appreciated more accurate information, more troubleshooting options, and a proactive refund when the service couldn’t be completed.
