Too bad I cannot give Negative Stars.
Ever since Steve Cairo left the practice, this place took a took nosedive and I would highly recommend that people NOT take their pets there!!
My 4 year old dog had a small scab on her tail about 2 weeks ago. My wife took her to VCA to be seen by one of the vets- Stephanie Orzyp. Instead of coming to the exam room, the vets at VCA never come to even say hello. A technician takes the dog to the "back" to be checked by the vet. After a short time, the tech brought my dog back with instructions on how to treat her "allergies". Dr. Orzyp never came in to speak to my wife.
My wife and I followed the instructions by putting some medicated powder on her tail and making sure she did not touch it.
A few days later, the scab was not healing and looked worse. My wife took her back to VCA. Again, a vet never came to the room to speak to my wife. The tech again took my dog to the back and a few minutes later brought her back. They shaved a little more hair off the tail, which clearly showed that the wounds and scabbing was going further down the tail. They did not consider shaving the rest of the tail off to see if it is going even further.
A vet did not come out to discuss anything, and the tech once again send us home with a new ointment and antibiotics.
My wife and I continued to treat the tail as instructed but it was not looking any better. we planned on going back to see the vet on Wednesday, but in the morning when my wife unwrapped the tail, it was totaling dead! it looked like a black twig.
My wife called VCA crying and asking to speak to the vet and to bring her in. Neither Dr. Orzyp nor any other vet there had the simple decency to pick up the phone, and we were told that they won't be able to see us until later in the day.
We took our dog to Premier Veterinary Group in Mundelein and they were absolutely terrific there. Unfortunately, however, we learned that our dog did not suffer from "Allergies" and should have been treated differently, but it was too late and she required to have her entire tail - all the way to her butt area - amputated.
I blame it all on the lazy vets at VCA Cario Animal Hospital!! this should have never happened.

We have been bringing our Bernese puppy here for many months, since got her. The staff here is extremely knowledgeable and incredibly kind, and they all greet our berner Violet by name. Special shoutout to Dr Orzyp, Cheyenne, and Mandy; Violet loves each of you endlessly.
Most importantly, the team has demonstrated an incredible wealth of knowledge as we have navigated our first year of ownership. From food allergies to stomach problems to limping, they have expressed deep knowledge in a number of areas, all with Bernese-specific knowledge.
If you are looking for a caring vet that knows their stuff and makes an effort every single visit, look no further.

Dr. Orzyp and her team are phenomenal. We have two fur baby dogs and they adore Dr. O! One of our dogs we adopted from a local rescue and had some major health issues. Dr. O made us feel relaxed and said we will get this all figured out and we did! Her bedside manner is incredible. Never thought we’d say this but we look forward to coming in and seeing Dr. O and her team!
