George Hartwell began the operations of Hartwell Excavating in 1950 as a small construction company focusing on digging basements and small utility work. In 1975, Kennaday Paving joined forces with Hartwell Excavating to create HK Contractors, Inc. As one of Idaho’s largest construction and material supply companies, we have also expanded our service area beyond Idaho Falls to include Montana and Wyoming. Through the years, we have received numerous local, state and federal awards including “Best Construction Project” for 1998, 2003 and 2004 from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. In 2007, HK Contractors became part of the Oldcastle Materials team of companies.
I was made aware of irresponsible driving that put animals in Yellowstone National park, as well as other people in the opposite lane of traffic at risk due to aggressive driving.
Driver of truck with number 55315 on the hood and DOT number 158415 was recorded driving aggressively and recklessly in Yellowstone, passing a line of other big rigs stopped for a herd of bison. He had little room to change lanes after this aggressive and reckless maneuver and, had he missed the tight margin, he would have hit another vehicle head-on at an aggressive speed. Video is public on Instagram with your company's logo on the vehicle. A driver like that should not be allowed to drive in the park, showing no regard for others.

Driver for HK sped through Yellowstone national park, passed on double yellow and harassed a herd of Bison. Coming dangerously close to hitting them and another car. The video of this incident is all over social media. Train your drivers, follow traffic laws and respect the wildlife of the park

I came across a video on Instagram of a
Driver of truck with number 55315 on the hood and DOT number 158415 with your company name, was recorded driving aggressively and recklessly in Yellowstone National Park.
He passed cars on double yellow. What is most disturbing is his act of total disregard of wildlife on the road and oncoming traffic. This could’ve been a horrible disaster had he not gotten over in time and hit one of those bison.
He should be fired and Yellowstone National Park should be sent a letter regarding this. Sanction your company if you cannot handle your drivers appropriately.

Worst road contractor on the planet. I waited 20 minutes in a pilot car line with no visible road work for at least a mile. Then waited another 10 minutes in the middle of their actual work sight for them to move equipment around. They give zero regard for peoples time. Also not to mention every time you go through the line 75% of their employees are talking or playing on their phones. Also forgot to mention they have been working on a 8 mile stretch of highway all summer. By far the worst contracting company.
