Awful experience. Stuck in traffic, arrived to the place. My puppy needs shots and has been pooping blood. Front receptionist Called Dr. Zapata, and she said no she won’t take us because we were late and she’s on lunch! 2 minutes later, another customer said she called in to be seen, receptionist called for Dr. Zapata again as I stand there and Dr. Zapata took her right away! How unprofessional. The front receptionist is coughing and intentionally ignoring me. Now as I walk out, she’s asking to reschedule. Absolutely not. Very unprofessional and will not be back!

My dog was severely poisoned by something unknown. She had bloody diarrhea and was in very bad condition — I thought we might lose her. We arrived late in the evening, and a doctor saw her immediately. She was kept in the hospital for two days. By the very next day, she was already much better. I could see that they treat animals very well, because my dog was happy every time the doctor came in. I am sure they care deeply about dogs. I agree with other reviews that the reception staff can be quite rude; only one young girl was very kind. In any case, I am very grateful that they saved my dog and treated her with such care.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the office and medical staff. Sadly had to bring my 17 year old cat for end of life services this past Saturday. They were so kind and loving. Gave me and my son all the time we needed before and after. We are so very heartbroken but also so very grateful to know there are compassionate people who don't want your animal(s) to suffer. Our Lucky was able to pass on peacefully with no pain. He was given mercy and dignity. I truly don't know how they do it and I applaud them.

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE WITHOUT READING THIS REVIEW FIRST. This review is based on my experience from March 2025. It's taken so long to write because my beautiful, perfectly heathly (other than some joint issues), 12 year old chocolate lab, Doug, passed away hours after I took him to VCA Hollywood hospital for a middle of the night emergency. I took Doug in to the hospital because he could not sit down and was very uncomfortable at home. He was older and had some hip issues, so I mentioned this to the clinic upon arrival. They treated him with tons of meds including pain meds and attempted to send us home despite the fact he still displayed signs of discomfort and stress. He still could not sit down even though he was highly medicated. I refused to leave until he was assessed again to make sure he was fully checked and treated. An hour later, they sent us despite no improvement, and told me it would take a while for the meds to start working. I took him home and his condition never got better until he seized and passed away in front of me just hours later. I called the VCA hospital afterwards and they told me that an autopsy could be performed for $4,000. I called around south Florida and found that was the standard amount, weighed the pros and cons, and decided it would be best for Doug to rest in peace. The hospital rep expressed their condolences and that was the end. Needless to say, my life was turned upside down and my heart destroyed by his loss after this experience. So much so it's taken months for me to write this review. I am of the opinion that the hospital was negligent because they did not check him for other potential causes of his discomfort/ pain, and/or mismedicating/ overmedicating him without a correct diagnosis. DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILTY TO TREAT YOUR PET FOR EMERGENCIES OR AT ALL. IT IS MY STRONG OPINION THAT THERE IS A REASON THEY HAVE TERRIBLE REVIEWS. I WISH I HAD TIME TO READ THE REVIEWS PRIOR TO OUR VISIT TO VCA HOLLYWOOD.

I am writing this review to warn other pet owners, because my experience at this VCA location revealed a repeated pattern of unethical, deceptive, and retaliatory behavior rather than a single mistake. From the start, this clinic overcharged excessively. I was billed for a full exam at every other visit even though the appointments were strictly for routine kitten vaccines. After everything that happened, I contacted four other veterinary offices, all of which confirmed that for a kitten vaccine series, only one initial exam is typically required. In addition to the exam fees, my kitten was given an unnecessary extra FVRCP vaccine. He received his FVRCP vaccines at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 15 weeks and 5 days old, which is a properly spaced and medically appropriate series. Multiple other veterinarians I contacted confirmed that 15 weeks and 5 days is absolutely old enough for the final FVRCP dose and that an additional booster was not required. Despite this, I was told the third dose did not count because it was not exactly sixteen weeks, and I was charged for an extra vaccine that should not have been given. I also realized that they had the incorrect date of birth for my kitten even though I provided them all the adoption paperwork. Because of this incorrect vaccine, what should have been my final visit could not include my kitten’s rabies vaccine. I was forced to return for an additional appointment that should never have been necessary, solely due to the clinic’s error regarding the FVRCP schedule. When I questioned the extra vaccine and requested to speak with billing or management, I was later told that the doctor instructed management not to contact me and said she would handle it herself. That alone was inappropriate. At my return visit for rabies, the situation escalated further. Even though I had been present in the exam room at every prior appointment, I was suddenly barred from going in the back with my cat, and the front desk stated this was per the doctor’s instruction. No medical or safety reason was given. After the visit, I was told by the front desk that I did not need to pay and could leave. The next morning, I received a text stating I owed $90 for a rabies vaccine and a microchip. I never requested, approved, or discussed microchipping at any point across multiple visits, and my cat is indoor only. When I called back, the front desk admitted that the doctor manually entered the charges after I left, which explained why staff were unaware of the charges the day before. When I requested removal of the unauthorized microchip charge, I was told it would only be removed if I physically returned a circle key to the office, which was completely unrelated to the billing issue. Only after escalation and a request for management again did the clinic finally call back and state that the charges were a “mistake” and would be removed. While I am glad the charges were reversed, this explanation does not align with what actually occurred, given that the charges were added after the visit, defended initially, and only reversed once the situation was escalated. Between the repeated unnecessary exam fees, an extra vaccine that should not have been given, being forced into an additional appointment, management being told not to contact me, being denied access to my pet without justification, being told I owed nothing and then billed later, charges added after the visit, and billing corrections only occurring after escalation, I have completely lost trust in this clinic. This experience felt retaliatory, manipulative, and entirely unprofessional. I will not be returning and will be transferring my cat’s care elsewhere. I strongly advise not bringing your pet here if you value transparency, ethical care, and honest billing.
