The second star is only because the docs and the technicians in the back were always very good to us, professional, and answered our questions appropriately.
However unfortunately the corporate structure (I’m assuming) and the abysmal manners of the front office staff have made us look elsewhere, even with a year long waiting list just so we don’t have to go back here again.
To start, my husband and I used to travel for work so we’ve been to enough vet offices with our 2 dogs to know what’s normal and what isn’t. Every place has its own quirks, we get that and are adaptable. But idk if there’s like personal or professional issues with the girls at the front but they’re always very rude and just seem stressed in general and take it out on the clients or something. They would get almost argumentative about basic stuff.
The first red flag was when my husband (who had the same last name as me) was bringing our dogs in for an appointment and the front desk refused to let him check in because it was my name on our account. The girl initially refused to let him explain that he is my husband and show his ID (again, same last name and home address on his ID). He begged her to call me so I could verbally authorize him to check our dogs into their appointment. She did, but she was extremely rude to him about it, calls me on the phone so that I could tell her that yes, my husband is in fact allowed to check our dogs in. We were stunned, again we’ve been to a lot of practices min our traveling careers and this never came up. Is this an actual policy of was she just on a power trip and needed to feel in control? If it is policy, what’s the purpose? To prevent my husband from kidnapping our dogs, and… taking them to their scheduled vet appointment? And if they’re so strict about this why did they not ask me if it’s okay for a spouse to share vet responsibilities upon our initial intake appt? I have plenty more stories where these people were so condescending and rude but this alone give you the idea. Look, I work in healthcare too. I deal with the general public and I imagine there is a load of clients who are rude to the staff. But my husband and I are not those people and we’re just appalled by how these people treated us.
Other negative to note, I mentioned the corporate structure before, they really push their payment plans with every appointment and try to throw in things unnecessarily. Though when I declined they accepted that right away and I appreciated that. In addition, they do not let you purchase meds from any other pharmacy but their own, which I did not like.
Now that we are established with a practice that we are comfortable with (and are both allowed to check our dogs in for appointments without background checks lol) I feel comfortable leaving this review. Unfortunately in a practice with good docs and tech, the front desk staff spoils the bunch.
