This Verizon location is running a scam. The initial rep David charged me a “Set Up and Go” fee for 4 phones, $200 total, and claimed it was for the activation fee. I later confirmed directly with Verizon that activation fees are never paid upfront. On top of that, they never even touched our phones. We set them up ourselves. Every phone was upgraded from another iPhone, which anyone knows transfers seamlessly through iCloud with zero help needed. There was no setup done at all, yet they still pocketed $200.
When I went back to demand a refund, I dealt with Valery, easily the most incompetent employee I have ever met. She has zero training, zero knowledge, and zero professionalism. Her answer to everything was either “I don’t know” or “that’s just the system.” If you don’t know anything then why do you work there? She could not explain fees, could not resolve issues, and could not provide any actual help. If this is who Verizon is hiring, customers are doomed from the start. Valery is not just unhelpful, she is completely useless in her role.
She and Dez both refused my refund, hiding behind the excuse that only the manager Adrian could do it. But Adrian is never there, only comes in randomly, and does not answer his phone. That means if you need a refund, have billing problems, or even run into issues trying to buy a new phone, this store cannot resolve anything. They deliberately hide behind an absent manager to block refunds.
While I was there, I also witnessed another customer getting scammed. She was being charged both a setup fee and an activation fee, and Valery kept insisting these were mandatory which I called her out on saying that a BS lie. The customer’s husband eventually had to come down after realizing they were being ripped off. To make it worse, Valery also tried to justify a bogus recycle fee when the customer was not even trading in a phone. Again, every answer from her was just “I don’t know.”
This proves a clear pattern of deception and fraud at this store. They lie about activation fees being due upfront. They charge hidden and bogus fees like the setup fee, the recycle fee, and double up with both activation and setup. They collect hundreds of dollars for services that were never performed. They block refunds by hiding behind a manager who is never present or responsive. And they employ staff like Valery who are completely untrained, unqualified, and incompetent.
This is not just bad service, it is dishonest scam-like business. Verizon corporate needs to investigate this location immediately before more customers get ripped off.
