  At this point I recommend no insurance over this insurance. The only reason they got one star is because of my initial experience with my first agency, and because Google doesn’t allow zero star reviews. I’ve had Farm Bureau for several years. They have transferred me between multiple agent offices over that timeframe with no notice, finally settling on this agent office an hour away in Newton. I’ve been dealing with Alex and Gavin himself for quite some time. Last month there was a transaction error when processing my automatic payment. I explained the issue, and was informed that they would accept a payment but charged a $4 fee on a ≈$100 payment. When I asked about this, I was informed that they began passing on payment processing fees to the client the second half of last year; I had received no notice, but upon review of my statements found that was accurate. I spoke with the central 800 number and was told that they would waive the returned payment fee and late charge for the first month, but now expect me to pay over $250 outright, plus an $8 processing fee. When I attempted to explain my concerns about this, Alex basically blew me off, attempted to justify it by telling me he had to pay processing fees on his water bill (I’m sure they notified him of that in advance), and when I again attempted to contest the amount due he told me that “we’ve gone over this enough” and that if I wanted to cancel my insurance policy I could call them back. Not only do some of the employees have an attitude problem, their unfounded rigidity in working with a long-time client has earned them a solid 1-star rating. Congratulations, Alex, on assuring my departure — it can be directly credited to today’s interaction with you and your attitude. Rest assured I’ll be speaking to Gavin and corporate directly regarding this situation.
