  I unfortunately had to explore a claim due to short term disability. I’ve had such challenges getting things to move forward and it seems they consistently put up barriers to approving the claim. It seems the methodology is to look for reasons to deny and or delay a decision. This has created a huge stressor for me on top of managing my health which caused me to be unable to work in the first place. Between multiple doctor follow ups, coordination between the insurance people and the doctor’s office, managing my health and juggling the uncertainty of my financial future, I’m felt this has made things even more difficult for me instead of being a safety net for those in need and eligible. No one should have to struggle to access support and resource for help then stay afloat in a time of need. All of the necessary information was provided but they kept asking for more. No end in sight all while I’m at risk of losing my home and unable to pay my bills since I’ve not been paid from work and the claim has been pending for almost a month. Despite sharing the urgent housing related concerns with the analyst and team, they have not considered the impact of this. Update: 8/27/25- updating to 3 stars mostly because of Jessica the manager’s support. While my claim analyst was difficult to reach and “unavailable” pretty much every time I called for an update, a manager named Jessica was super helpful and responsive. She was able to provide clear and timely information and honored her promise to follow up with me. I’m grateful for Jessica who was able to ensure things moved along as I did not feel confident my analyst was taking my concerns seriously or following up in a prompt manner. The compounded stress of having to chase Principal down for updates and to ensure they followed up consistently, I ended up being hospitalized. However, having Jessica speak with me and follow up in the morning just as she said she would, I had renewed hope that things can actually work out for me. Thanks for giving me some much needed hope during a challenging time in my life.

  It has been such a hassle getting correct information and moving my investments around. It feels like they are actively trying to slow down the process. The information they provide about their investment options is very misleading. They make it sound like you have flexibility in your investments, when in reality all they have are preset mutual funds. I just want my money in a different account with a different company.

  Let me start by stating I hadn't been able to work for nearly 3 months due to an accident out of work. I coach my sons baseball team and got hit with a baseball right in the eye and put me out of work for this long. I called principal to see what options I have to help me with my bills. They said they have a hardship program. So I submitted the form and they took nearly a month to reply what all I needed to get help. So I submitted all forms needed to get help. Waited a week they claimed they never received anything. So resubmitted they information they were requesting and they claimed again never received it. So now it's been two months from original date asking for help so as I asked for management they claimed to have received my information and it took them two days to deny me because some of the dates were not within the time period as per the regulations. But they continue to get my money every pay period since I've been back at work. Now I have submitted request to change my account to zero they are not getting a penny from me anymore. So i would not recommend these thieves at all.
