A week ago, Sheri came to my house stating that she had an appointment to help get my husband set up for some services. When I asked who she was, she said very low and quickly— Bankers Life and because my husband was 65 she was there to make sure he signed up for any benefits he was entitled to. (Although my husband is not 65 he is on disability). We ended up setting a time for the following week. Sheri comes the next and I ask her more in-depth questions about who she was and how she got our info. She vaguely says she’s from Bankers Life and proceeds to give us her “resume” showing what credentials and rewards she has obtain…Blah blah blah….I wanted to know how and where did she get our info. —she was hesitant to say, but finally said, “you filled out a Census, didn’t you?” I said “so you’re not from the state or government?” she confirmed she was not. I proceeded to ask her several times how she could help us. Still no real answers…only stories of how she saved someone from an expired policy. She wanted us to give her our personal information so she could “see” how to help. When I told her we weren’t give out any personal info she stated that without it she would not be able to help and I totally agreed. I asked her to leave. She was very upset and as she left “MY” house, she told me that I was very rude. The rude part was Sheri coming to my house in an attempt to be deceptive about what her true intention were. I also told Sheri that I hoped she wasn’t out here misrepresent herself to elderly people who don’t catch the sells pitch before giving their personal info. Not to mention that they are making cold calls from information obtained from the Census. To me this was no different than a spam email or phone call—it was just in person. The crazy part of it all—if she had just been upfront and stated that she was trying to sell a policy, she may have succeeded.
