I was sold a hospital indemnity policy from a referred agent for help with my Medicare 2025 insurance. We all know it’s so hard to understand how it all works. I was put in the Aetna insurance company for Medicare part B and D. The indemnity policy was from banker’s life and I paid 85.67 dollars a month. It was explained that it would pay me for any excess cost that Medicare didn’t cover. It was not necessary as I now understand. Just a cost that I was definitely not happy with once I started to realize just how much it was costing me and my husband for insurance we were paying for. As my husband was new to Medicare and started getting his Medicare payments in June, he was told to stop his work insurance and go straight to his Medicare card and his Washington National supplement plan. This was 145.00 dollars each month. The government was not taking the part B out of his SS check so I had to pay it for a month or two.Actually , I just remembered that I had to pay 550 dollars to the government for January-June. I guess the right hand wasn’t working with the left hand. The problem was that my husband was still working full time, which is totally acceptable. Most people actually retire at the age they are eligible to retire. But there are some people, like us, who still have to work to continue our current lifestyle. The worst part of his mess was his part D (drug insurance) through WellCare. This company was absolutely horrible! We’re still trying to show them that my husband was fully insured for health and dental and vision as well as insurance for his medication. We had his work write a letter and his previous work insurance company wrote a letter stating he had continuous coverage with no lapse. Long story short? They are trying to penalize my husband for the rest of his life for this supposed lapse of insurance. And this agent is supposed to be responsible for getting WellCare to stop the claim of lapse of coverage?!?!
Can I just say this? Educate yourself about Medicare and what you actually need for coverage. Don’t be sold different policies that these people are selling. My husband and I are going with a new agent and she is absolutely a miracle worker. My once confused mind is now clear as a bell. I’m confident she has listened and is taking care of us. New policy? United healthcare Medicare advantage HMO. Zero monthly premiums, zero copayments for in network physicians or my in network PCP. My pharmacy is in network. I’m confident that the coming year is going to be great! Less stress and more money in my pocket? Yes please!
Oh! The review? The agent actually gave me his phone and had this Google review pulled up. Asked me to give him a 5 star review as he and his coworkers were having a contest for the most agents who have a 5 star review. I was so shocked 😳! I initially gave him a four star review and told him nobody is perfect. I’m sorry but I just don’t give out five star reviews. He was taken aback by this! I then gave him some constructive criticism, although he did not ask for it. I told him he talked too much for one thing. And I also Told him he gave too much information at one sitting. Sorry for the long review, but I do want Bankers life to understand why I am giving a changed review and lowering it from the four to a one star.

I had the pleasure of working with Andre’ Issac from the Banker’s Life Raleigh office. He was awesome to work with and answered all the questions I had. His personality was a big plus which made me feel comfortable in getting my own insurance for myself for the first time. I am looking forward to working with him on another concern. Highly recommended!! Thank you again!
