  20 years after a Farm Bureau agent lied to me I decided to give the company a chance. I contacted the local agent (Thad). He was very nice but he sounded like an insurance salesman. Kept saying "If you bundle I can give you a better rate" and "our adjusters come from Starkville so we pay fast." Just the same statements that EVERY insurance agent says. I really wanted him to come by, sit down with me and build a policy. He just wanted to bundle. He finalized a quote for my home at $1950 a year. I called Nationwide and they took his quote and made it even better. Instead of appraised value they increased it to 150%. They also gave me a better roof upgrade and then increased a barn I had to 60K in coverage. Nationwide came $400 cheaper than Farm Bureau on a MUCH better policy with a lower deductible. I emailed Thad and said Nationwide beat you and he never once replied. Local insurance agents can be successful if they work with the homeowner and build a policy. All Thad wanted to do was bundle and sign me. He should have taken the time and built me a policy. He came to my house to take pictures when I was gone! Come on Thad, meet the client face to face and shake his hand. Be the local agent that the community needs! I wanted a local agent and instead I got "we need to bundle" agent.
