  Our son, for whom we have legal guardianship, has autism and an IQ under 70. He was somehow signed up for an account with this company through his job, without his consent, using contact information that is not his. We have been trying to fix this since 2023 and no one returns calls or emails. We are now hiring an attorney. This should never happen to a vulnerable adult who cannot legally understand or enter into something like this.

  One of the worst fund managers I’ve worked with. I was set up with principal through an employer-sponsored plan but that was the only convenient part about working with this group. Once I was off the employer plan, I was nickel and dimed for moving funds around and even penalized for sticking with principal as the fund manager for independent contributions! This isn’t even mentioning the poor performance of their products relative to competitors. You’re better off going with another organization.

  My experience with Principal regarding a hardship withdrawal request was extremely disappointing due to their lack of clear guidance and empathy during a difficult time. Throughout the process, I was met with inconsistent information and no real support. Despite speaking with both a supervisor and a manager, there was no effort to take responsibility for the poor guidance I was given. The manager was unhelpful and unwilling to consider the circumstances or what had previously been communicated to me over the phone. I was expected to obtain revised documentation while grieving, which was both unreasonable and insensitive. To make matters worse, the same manager appears to respond to all complaints, whether submitted through Google or to the Department of Insurance, offering no real resolution. This experience highlights a serious lack of accountability and compassion in Principal's handling of hardship withdrawal requests.

  Just another typical insurance scam company. I "wasn't gone long enough" to claim it. So here i am out 2 weeks of pay now while they still get paid by companies
