Rrahul helped me with my vehicle registration and getting a personalized license plate. He was super knowledgeable, patient, and even filled out my forms for me twice (because I messed them up :D). He was very professional and my experience was great! Thanks Rrahul!

This review is not directed at a specific branch, but at Western Coastal Insurance as a company. Due to my experience with the claims adjuster assigned to my file, I will not use Western Coastal Insurance again. I was involved in a no-fault accident on October 25, 2025, and contacted Western Coastal Insurance on October 26. My adjuster received the claim on October 27 but did not contact me until October 31. During that time, I called multiple times to follow up and was repeatedly told by customer service representatives that my adjuster would call me that day, which did not happen. When the adjuster finally contacted me on October 31, the claims process began. I submitted photos of my vehicle the same day. After receiving no response, I followed up on November 3, as I had been told I would receive an update from the appraiser. On November 4, I was informed by email that there had been an issue downloading the photos and that they had to be resent. Between October 31 and November 3, no progress was made, and I had to initiate all follow-up communication. On November 6, I emailed again requesting an update. That evening, the adjuster responded stating that my vehicle was a write-off. When I asked for clarification, I was told this conclusion was based on a quick conversation with the appraiser and that no formal paperwork had been completed at that time. I later spoke with a manager and expressed my concerns about the lack of communication and follow-up, but the situation did not improve. On November 12, the appraiser’s official report was completed and my vehicle was formally deemed a total loss. That same day, I asked a question that could have impacted my settlement amount. I received no response and had to follow up again on November 17. I finally received an answer on November 18. I accepted the settlement on November 18 and then had no communication until November 24. On November 24, my adjuster informed me that my settlement cheque was being sent to a branch on the BC mainland, despite the fact that I live on Vancouver Island. I emailed the same day requesting that it be sent to my local branch. When I received no response, I followed up on November 27 and again on December 8. Concerned that my settlement was being sent to the wrong location, I contacted customer service on the evening of December 9. After four attempts to reach my adjuster, I finally received a response, only after involving customer service. On December 10, my adjuster stated that the mainland location was merely a placeholder and that the settlement was intended for my local branch. However, I was also informed that due to a “system issue,” the original request to send the cheque had not gone through, and it was only being processed at that time. From November 24 to December 9, no action was taken on my claim. On December 10, I connected with a manager, who ensured that my settlement was sent on December 11. The consistently poor communication and lack of follow-up from my adjuster ultimately led me to write this review. If this experience reflects Western Coastal Insurance’s standard claims practices, I would not recommend getting insurance through them.

You will more likely get a better quote from this company but if you ever file a claim with them, you could end up having worst possible experience. When I filed my claim I was told I would be assigned someone that would deal with my file, only to be emailed a long form with questions and answers that the company should be asking the auto body shop and finding answer themselves. I had to fight and guide my own way for the entire experience. Emails to Western Coast as well as phone calls would go unanswered. The only motivation in the end was when I talked to the manager after many months of delay. How do elderly adults and those that have English not as their first language handle an experience like that! I changed insurance providers and have never looked back

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Coast Insurance Services Ltd. | Home, Car & Business Insurance

Does my ICBC insurance cover someone else driving my car?

Yes, your ICBC insurance will cover someone else driving your car, but ICBC requires that you list all potential drivers, whether secondary or occasional, on your policy. Once listed, these individuals are covered under your policy. There is also some coverage available for unlisted drivers, but it may be subject to a penalty. Be sure to classify a friend or family member as a secondary driver if you know that they will be driving your car during the policy term. Would a second driver affect my premium?

In British Columbia, 75% of the rate is based on the primary driver’s driving record, with the other 25% based on the secondary driver with the lowest discount. Other secondary drivers can be listed on the policy but do not impact your rate. Read more at - https://westernfinancialgroup.ca/5-things-to-know-ICBC-Coverage-Occasional-Drivers
