We had been customers since 1998 between Coast Capital and Western Coast takeover to date . They forced us to get a roof inspection and we ended up installing a new roof 5 years early as the inspection was a fee of $800 We did not mind this so much as we knew we would replace the roof in the next few years anyway , however , their bully tactics demanding photos and documents etc was over the top . This year out of the blue they demanded photos of all four sides of the house , I am the only person in the world without a cell phone so I had to set up digital camera with a friend and get it done . Then on a saturday afternoon I get a call from them telling me my porch needs railing and handrails on the two step platform. I had 60 days to compete and send photo proof of alterations. I am not a handyman , to find a carpenter and get it down in 60 days was a stresser to say the least . Next day I checked building codes re decks and railings , our porch was 22 inches from top of board to the ground , building codes are 30 inches . So Western Coast is applying their own guidelines for its clients . I saw a piece on the news that Insurance Companies want to get rid of rural customers due to the uptick in wildfires . I honestly think this is where we are at with Western Coast . We checked around and found better coverage for 20% less than Western Coast . I guess our long time customer appreciation was not all they make it out to be . If you are thinking of using these guys check around , I found two other outfits with lower rates and we were supposingly getting loyalty discount , all I was gettin for my 2500 dollars a year were demands for photos and stress outs . Hi- I've worked with Chelysia Kamsteeg on my insurance needs over the last six months, and wow did she deliver! I ended up getting three different insurance policies for my world, and Chelysia was absolutely phenomenal every step of the way. She could ( should:) write a book on 'customer service!' Thank you for making my life easier, and all that you did! - Cam

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Coast Insurance Services Ltd. | Home, Car & Business Insurance

Does my ICBC insurance cover someone else driving my car?

Yes, your ICBC insurance will cover someone else driving your car, but ICBC requires that you list all potential drivers, whether secondary or occasional, on your policy. Once listed, these individuals are covered under your policy. There is also some coverage available for unlisted drivers, but it may be subject to a penalty. Be sure to classify a friend or family member as a secondary driver if you know that they will be driving your car during the policy term. Would a second driver affect my premium?

In British Columbia, 75% of the rate is based on the primary driver’s driving record, with the other 25% based on the secondary driver with the lowest discount. Other secondary drivers can be listed on the policy but do not impact your rate. Read more at - https://westernfinancialgroup.ca/5-things-to-know-ICBC-Coverage-Occasional-Drivers
