I am writing this review to let others know to make sure to double check their coverage to make sure that your insurance is valid. I had a very bad experience dealing with this company. I put storage insurance on my car with West Coast Insurance in White Rock in April 2025. I was flying back to Ontario to visit my sister. I was there until June 2025 when I returned. When I got back I went to Westcoast Insurance again to take off the storage insures and reinsure it for a year. I gave the insurance agent my papers and he asked what new plates I would like so I picked out a pair. He filled out the forms and asked me initial and sign all the papers which I did. I left the office and put the new plates on my car. I went and visited a friend in Kelowna then returned home. I then took another trip to Penticton to visit relatives. When I left there, I went to Oliver just outside of Penticton then I returned home again. Then I took another trip to Penticton to visit my granddaughter and pick up my daughter that was in October. I returned back to Surrey. Then on October 13 th I went to visit my oldest daughter in Delta. As I started for home there was a police car was behind me. The next thing I knew I was being pulled over. I asked the officer why I was pulled over and he said because my plates didn’t match the car. I handed him my insurance paper. As it turned out, the insurance agent had insured my old car which had been crushed a year and a half earlier. So, I had been driving around from June until October with no insurance and didn’t even know it. I put my faith in the insurance agent to do my insurance. The officer asked me to park my car until I got proper insurance. He handed me a ticket for $600.00 but was nice enough to only give me a warning which was nice of him. I have been insuring cars for over 50 years and never had an issue before. If I had had an accident or even worse hit a pedestrian, I would have been charged and been paying restitution for the rest of my life. I put my faith in this company and they failed me. I have been trying to talk to manager of the West Coast insurance and have left numerous messages and haven’t heard from her. I had an employee call me and aske me what it was about. I asked him if he was the manger he said no and asked what it was about. I told him he looked up my policy then told be he would pass it on to the manager. That was on October 25th I still haven’t heard from her and today is October 28. They ask you initial and sign and that’s it. You put your faith in these people and when there is a problem you are invisible.

I recently visited this insurance company with some doubts about my vehicle insurance coverage, and I was really impressed with their service. The representative took the time to clearly explain all the details about my policy, including coverage options and claims procedures, in a very patient and professional manner. They made sure I understood everything before ending the call, which gave me a lot of confidence and peace of mind. I truly appreciate their prompt response, transparency, and friendly approach. Great customer support experience — thank you for making things easy to understand!

The phone contact and service was very good. Pooja was very good. However, there is room for improvement! When the agent called me over the phone to do the auto ICBC insurance renewal, it should be in the procedure to mention that a following email will by Western Coast Insurance Services will be sent to me with an attachment to enable me to print the Insurance Policy. As I was told by a police officer that could have gave me a fine for not providing a copy during a road stop. The initial Western Coast Insurance Services agent that helped me renew the car insurance never mentioned that I have to have a print copy in the car? Sincerely, Martin Begin

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Coast Insurance Services Ltd. | Home, Car & Business Insurance

Does my ICBC insurance cover someone else driving my car?

Yes, your ICBC insurance will cover someone else driving your car, but ICBC requires that you list all potential drivers, whether secondary or occasional, on your policy. Once listed, these individuals are covered under your policy. There is also some coverage available for unlisted drivers, but it may be subject to a penalty. Be sure to classify a friend or family member as a secondary driver if you know that they will be driving your car during the policy term. Would a second driver affect my premium?

In British Columbia, 75% of the rate is based on the primary driver’s driving record, with the other 25% based on the secondary driver with the lowest discount. Other secondary drivers can be listed on the policy but do not impact your rate. Read more at - https://westernfinancialgroup.ca/5-things-to-know-ICBC-Coverage-Occasional-Drivers
