On Aug. 12 my daughter and I were exchanging our cars through a reciprocal gifting arrangement. We were greeted by Kara Smyth who expertly whisked us through the required paperwork completely and accurately. This was not a boiler plate transaction but Kara handled it with ease,in spite of the fact that a line up of other clients were waiting for her expertise. Thanks, Kara, clients of Western Financial are far richer with you as their go to person.

UPDATE: I was told to email with my personal information to review my experience, which I did on June 26, 2025 and I never heard back. I went to renew my truck insurance, and learned that I had been paying for the wrong insurance all year, which was much more expensive. When I first asked why so expensive, I was told that it is because I am new to British Columbia, and I will be paying higher for the next couple years. When the mistake was identified, I was told there was nothing they could do. Make sure you review everything that is done, I am super new to the car insurance world, and trusted it was done correctly. I was paying for personal and business insurance on my truck I drive to Cranbrook for 3 days a week to go to work. I have always had a great experience with my condo insurance, this experience really surprised me.

Absolutely awful customer service, spoken to rudely and dismissed very quickly when I asked a question or had a concern. Almost as they wouldn't give the time of day. Went to KIS insurance and had exceptional customer service and the staff was helpful and friendly. Will not be returning to Western Financial.

Staff is friendly, place is clean. You can walk in but some things require an appointment. Sanitizer at the door and mask is required as of Feb/21. Staff are efficient and knowledgeable they get you out as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Financial Group Inc. - Canada's Insurance Broker

Does my ICBC insurance cover someone else driving my car?

Yes, your ICBC insurance will cover someone else driving your car, but ICBC requires that you list all potential drivers, whether secondary or occasional, on your policy. Once listed, these individuals are covered under your policy. There is also some coverage available for unlisted drivers, but it may be subject to a penalty. Be sure to classify a friend or family member as a secondary driver if you know that they will be driving your car during the policy term. Would a second driver affect my premium?

In British Columbia, 75% of the rate is based on the primary driver’s driving record, with the other 25% based on the secondary driver with the lowest discount. Other secondary drivers can be listed on the policy but do not impact your rate. Read more at - https://westernfinancialgroup.ca/5-things-to-know-ICBC-Coverage-Occasional-Drivers
