    This one’s specifically for paint department. They hired the most helpful, knowledgeable, kind people over there. I will continue to give my business to them as long as they keep that up and treat those employees kindly so they continue to pour that out to customers. I had just come over from an unnecessarily sour experience at sherwin Williams. I was trying to recreate an old color that had been buried on my walls, and I could pinpoint it to 2 swatches if they were just simply a middle between the two. The exact color I needed wasn’t on the shelves. Sherwin Williams gave me an annoyed speel on how this color wasn’t even possible and they can’t do that and blah blah blah (I’m a color specialist and his color theory was appalling and he was spitting actual nonsense at me which was frustrating.). Kept giving me dead ends and I’m just looking for a general solution here or some suggestions on how to achieve this. Said I’d try Lowe’s around the corner and they scoffed at me. I’m very easy going but I don’t tolerate attitudes. I was then looking at paint swatches at Lowe’s and someone came up and asked me what I was working on, I explained, and immediately he was positive, optimistic, and full of solution oriented suggestions. He made me a sample color in the exact shade I wanted the first try, with a great attitude. I threw it on the wall at home and immediately knew already I needed a whole can and went back for more so I’d get the same employee. They hooked me up helping me locate the tools I needed and helped suggest things I didn’t know existed to get my project done. Crazy what happens when your employees care and are kind- you get a happy customer who will make a few purchases, remember it, and always come back. All I require is kindness and competence- and Lowe’s far exceeded both. Please Lowe’s, take care of these ones for us so we don’t have to get crappy customer service somewhere else…. It is increasingly hard to find people who care and are kind in this world and you have a fraction of them- so treat them kind and keep them!

    I would never recommend Lowe’s installation service to anyone and will not use them again. Long story short: It took them 5 months to replace a patio door. I made innumerable calls to get the installation completed and was met with inconsistent and non-responsive responses. The problem was incompetence in completing the trim! Lowe’s uses an out-of-state company (UHS) to hire local contractors to do installations. As a customer, you go through installation support when problems arise. Their response is to call UHS (when they can get through). UHS often has their phones switched to voice mail during business hours. When you get through to them (either me or Lowe’s) they may agree to set up an appointment in few weeks. I had to send photos of the shoddy workmanship (mismatched wood, caulk running down the side of the wood in big clumps and improper installation of the trim) to get approval for the redo of the trim. Three times the local contractors came to look at the issue, agreed there was a problem but need approval from UHS to correct it or they would not get paid. That approval takes weeks and promises to call you are not honored. It was only when I contacted Lowe’s corporate office that the job was finished by a new, competent contractor. The communication between the customer, Lowe’s, UHS and the local contractor is convoluted, inconsistent and simply a mess. I learned an expensive lesson: hire a local company and deal with the installation directly. Avoid middlemen! I rate Lowe’s installation a zero.
