This experience left me very disappointed, especially with the store’s after-sales policy.
When we opened the headboard to prepare for installation, we found serious structural damage at one corner. This was not a small cosmetic issue — the piece was clearly broken and could not be installed or used at all.
We spent a long time discussing this with the store and raised a very realistic point: certain types of damage can only be noticed during installation. Even if the box is opened immediately, some issues are not obvious at first glance. Staff on site also acknowledged that this can happen.
However, the store relied only on a strict “48-hour policy” as the deciding factor. In practice, this rule feels unreasonable because it does not reflect how installation-type products actually work. Some defects simply cannot be discovered within such a short timeframe, yet the full responsibility is placed on the customer.
We also asked what would happen if a delivery arrives when no one is home, or if a customer only opens the box briefly but installs it days later. In those situations, problems may only be discovered later. There was no clear or fair explanation for how those cases would be handled.
To be fair, the staff were polite, and they did try to help and communicate. But in the end, the only solution offered was a $200 + tax credit, even though the damaged piece is completely unusable and we now have to spend additional money to replace it.
Overall, the policy feels rigid and not customer-friendly. Once the 48-hour window passes, there appears to be little room for a fair resolution, even when the damage clearly affects usability. That is the most disappointing part of this experience.
One important detail to add: we opened the package on the 4th day when we were preparing to install it, and we contacted the store by email on the 5th day. We did not rush to report it immediately because we genuinely believed this was a product defect from the manufacturer, not an issue caused by sales or delivery, and assumed it could be resolved through normal communication.
However, the store relied entirely on the strict “48-hour policy” to limit the solution. This is difficult to understand. With products that require installation, certain problems can only be discovered when you actually start putting them together. Even if the box is opened earlier, some damage may not be noticeable at that moment.
What is most frustrating is that this clearly appears to be a manufacturing issue, yet the loss ends up being placed on the customer. I don’t know what agreements exist between the store and the manufacturer, but this should really be something handled between the business and the supplier, rather than shifting the burden to the consumer through a time-based policy.
Overall, this system feels unreasonable and not customer-oriented. Once the time window passes, there seems to be very little room for a fair solution, even when the problem is clearly related to the product itself. That is very disappointing.

Yes. You may cancel your order by visiting any Brick location. Purchases made online and in store are refundable at any time prior to product delivery or pick up. Refunds are made only to the same credit or debit card used to pay for the order. Cash payments will be refunded to a debit card or via cheque and mailed to the person who paid for the order. Deposits on Special Order items are non-refundable.
Can I get my deposit refunded in cash if I paid in cash?
Unfortunately, not every Brick store will have enough cash on hand or the exact dollar amount required to refund your deposit in cash. We're happy to refund cash payments to a debit card, or via a cheque made out to the individual listed on the invoice.

An extended warranty can be added during the purchase process in store or online. Or if you've already completed an online order and decided you want to add a warranty, you can visit a Brick store to purchase a warranty up to 30 days after receiving your product. You can add a warranty to a product during the first step of the online checkout process. When you check out, you'll be asked if you want to add a warranty to each eligible product. You can either select 'Protect All Products' at the top of the warranty section, or specify which level of coverage you want for each individual product. Our Premium Delivery Service is available in most areas. For areas not served by The Brick's delivery team, we contract third-party courier and shipping companies.
