We purchased four major appliances from Cabin Hill in 2024 because they presented themselves as a small, family-owned business. Their website even stated that the owner’s mother and stepfather still helped in the store. That personal care was important to us.
We were encouraged to buy extended warranties with the assurance that unused warranties would be credited toward future appliances. This later turned out to be untrue — a policy change we were never told about.
Just before Thanksgiving, less than a year after purchase, our freezer failed and we lost over $500 in food. Service took weeks. After multiple visits and delays, the refrigerator was condemned — only for us to later learn from GE that no paperwork had been submitted and the technician had caused the damage by cutting a hose too short.
The manager, Brent, was defensive, spoke condescendingly, hung up on me multiple times, and refused to provide the owner’s name. We were repeatedly told to “just deal with GE,” despite buying directly from Cabin Hill.
We went over a month without a refrigerator, canceled all holiday plans, and were pressured to take down our review before anything was resolved. Promises of a new warranty and a “deal” on another appliance were not honored.
Ownership has changed (now owned by Tom Charlie), and after one brief response, the owner stopped communicating entirely.
This was not about a mistake — it was about how customers are treated when something goes wrong. Based on our experience, accountability and customer care are no longer priorities here.

We had an outstanding experience at this appliance store from start to finish, and I can’t say enough great things about both the store and Nicole, the sales representative who helped us with our stove purchase. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and never pressured.
Nicole was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to what we were looking for. She took the time to explain the differences between models, answered all of our questions thoroughly, and helped us find the perfect stove that fit our needs, style, and budget. It was clear she genuinely cared about making sure we were confident and happy with our decision.
The entire process was smooth and stress-free, from selecting the stove to scheduling delivery. Nicole’s professionalism, honesty, and attention to detail truly set her apart. We left feeling excited about our purchase and grateful for such excellent customer service.
If you’re looking for quality appliances and an amazing team, I highly recommend this store—and especially Nicole. We will absolutely be returning for future appliance needs!

I bought a new Maytag oven before Thanksgiving. On December 23 I was getting some cooking done for our Christmas dinner and the stove blew out. I called Cabin Hill
and they sent a technician to my house right away. Andy was very busy that day but happily came and found the problem. He fixed it up so I could continue using it while I wait for a part. I know that a box store would never of come so quickly or worked to make the stove safe and usable while waiting for a part. Thank you for all the help especially given the time of year it was .
I’ve bought every appliance we own from Cabin Hill Appliance, and I won’t go anywhere else. As a chef, I know what works and what doesn’t. Our new range is solid and performs exactly how it should. When the first one showed up damaged, they handled it fast and had a brand-new one delivered within two days. No excuses, just fixed.
Brian really knows his stuff when it comes to grilling and helped me get our setup dialed in. Brandon also saved us a pile of money by being honest about a dishwasher failure and telling us replacement made more sense than throwing cash at a repair. I respect that kind of honesty.
The sales team actually understands the products they sell, and the 12-month same-as-cash financing helped us out around the holidays. Cabin Hill Appliance is the real deal, good people, good products, and they stand behind what they sell. That’s why we keep going back.
BUYER BEWARE
We purchased a $2,300 refrigerator from Cabin Hill, our 4th appliance from them in about 6 months. We chose this long-standing, locally owned business because we believed we would receive reliable service and accountability. We also purchased the extended warranty on every appliance we’ve bought there.
We were sold a defective product. Just over a year in, the freezer failed. We are now over two weeks without a functioning refrigerator, including through Thanksgiving. We lost hundreds of dollars in food and had to cancel holiday plans with our family and grandkids.
The service technician spent over an hour diagnosing the issue and informed us that we had one of the most serious problems a fridge can have: a refrigerant leak, which rendered both the freezer and refrigerator unusable. We were told the repair would take nearly a full day and had to wait over a week for the appointment.
After over 5 hours of work during the repair we were suddenly told that the refrigerator could not be fixed and we would need a full replacement. This was especially frustrating because just an hour earlier we were told that everything looked good and the repair would be finished soon. Instead, they said GE, not Cabin Hill, would be handling the replacement process. We didn’t buy from GE; we bought from a local store expecting local support from their in-house service department. That expectation was a major factor in choosing this supposedly “mom and pop,” 100-year-old business.
What happened next was even more disappointing.
We called today to speak to an owner, hoping that someone with actual decision-making authority might help our family. We were told an owner would return the call. After hearing nothing for 3 hours, we called again and were told the owners are never there. We were then transferred to a supervisor, who later identified himself as the highest-ranking employee on site.
This supervisor was dismissive, offered no empathy, and provided no solutions. He repeatedly interrupted, refused to provide his manager’s contact information, and would not pass our concerns to anyone above him. He hung up on us three times. We were simply trying to get help. Are we frustrated? Yes. Did the arrogance, disrespectful tone towards a woman, and abrupt hang-ups escalate that frustration? Absolutely.
We now have:
A barely one-year-old refrigerator with catastrophic failure
No usable fridge or freezer
Hundreds of dollars in food loss
A disrupted family holiday
“Double coverage” in warranties that have produced no meaningful support
A business passing everything off to GE, despite GE not being the retailer
The most disturbing part is the complete lack of compassion, accountability, or willingness to connect us with an actual decision-maker. The supervisor claimed to be “in charge” but refused to share who his own boss was or how to contact them. Each time we asked, he hung up the phone.
We expected much better from a company that presents itself as a caring, community based operation that has served our region for generations. Our initial experience, including excellent delivery staff was exactly what we had hoped for. But when it mattered most, that level of service disappeared completely.
We have contacted the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General.
People deserve to know the reality behind the reputation.
This has been the worst customer service we have encountered, and the overall experience has left us feeling deeply uneasy about how this company does business.
Proceed with EXTREME caution.
**The reply by the business is not by an owner, as they are not involved with the business as we were told, and is not factual. If it was, we wouldn't be here. Plus we called GE directly today 12.9.25, since we have heard nothing yet, and they had no idea about this issue, so more untruths. After over 2 hours on phone, they also wondered why Cabin Hill was not handling this, and told us the tech cut the line too short and this is why the repair could not be completed. Lies upon lies so far.
Shady stuff here folks.
