Had a bad experience with a controlled medication that was thrown away, I have been on this medication for 6 years if not longer, never with any issues. Understandably the pharmacy was hesitant to fill it, as it was early. But there was direct evidence and direction and authorization from my doctor, and care team, that they refused to listen to multiple times, treated me like a transient drug seeker when I asked further questions about why, and kept being given short answers that were vague to the point I had to keep going back trying to get more info on what to do. They said they couldn’t do anything yet filled it anyways once they realized I was telling the truth and the doctor told them specifically to fill it. All of this to treat me like a drug seeking addict when a genuine accident happened, with evidence and my doctors notes and authorization, and evidence across 6 years of NO EARLY FILLS OR SEEKING BEHAVIOR. I am so tired of being a pain patient who gets treated like an addict because of this one medication, and people like these at this pharmacy make life a living hell for people like me because they want to act like god over a medication. When they simply could have been nice and not treated me this way and would have found very fast that what I was saying was true. Filed a formal complaint with the state on this pharmacy’s treatment of myself and I’m sure many others, as well as taking my business elsewhere.

The worst pharmacy to go to in Anacortes. The pharmacy manager is RUDE and doesn’t treat patients with respect. She talks over them and treats them as if they’re scum. I would not recommend this place to any older folks unless they want to get treated badly.

Always double check the price of your Rx at the Oak Harbor Safeway: they will do everything possible to force you to run your script through insurance, vs cash & a coupon. Yes.. coupons & cash will extend the time it takes to pay down your prescription deductible. However, if your lifesaving prescription costs $400 through insurance, but is only $25 via Good Rx? Well, then they need to offer BOTH OPTIONS to patients. **Believe it or not, this Island has AT LEAST 50% of our (Non-Navy) residents below the poverty line. They/we are always facing possible homelessness &/or resettlement in another county. Facts. Google me for my credentials if you don't trust my maths & metrics.** More importantly though: when pharmacy staff (Wendy) & manager (James) ban you & your family from filling your prescriptions for questioning these practices? Then once again, there is a fundamental problem with the ENTIRE establishment. Doctors & pharmacies are a COMMUNITY SERVICE & "continuity of care" is a crucial (and legal) retirement in a small county. For the other department managers at Safeway: if you subscribe to the logic that "a rising tide raises all boats in the harbor", then you must also assume that "a sinking ship brings us down with it". Stand up for your store, your customers, your town; speak up! When there's a batch of bad apples in produce, do you sell it or try again? When a butcher can't provide clean, quality cuts, do they get a raise? When a courtesy clerk gets complaints for not being "cheery", do THEY get the same benefit-of-the-doubt that Pharmacy Manager James does? Or do they get written up & written off? Because, uh.. I remember how I was treated when I was "just a boxboy", back in the day [before current staff]! Because we are expendable right? "A dime a dozen." Are we being fair across the board when it comes to holding employees to the same standard, Store Manager Jason? It doesn't look like it. As far as optics go anyway. //~~~FWIW: this is not a complaint regarding regarding narcotic Rx fills. NOT THAT THIS SHOULD MATTER! We are talking antidepressants & asthma medications. We're discussing elderly folk with COPD, heart disease, & cancer. Working class Men & women that are your neighbors & civic leaders, Volunteers, & teachers.~~~\\ This is a difficult time & staffing is a challenge right now. I get it. I'm a local employer with 15+ years writing paychecks to my fellow Islanders. But when you're the manager & certain pharmacy staff members are quite literally a LEGAL & LETHAL DANGER to the community? My friend, it is then time to face the music, & force a change. For your neighbors. ALLEGEDLY, & of course..in my humble opinion:)
