I’m deeply disappointed with the service I received over phone from the Safeway Pharmacy in Newcastle earlier this month. When I first called, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude and kept interrupting me before I could even complete my sentence. It was honestly very hurtful. It felt dismissive and unnecessarily harsh, and it honestly left me shaken. People don’t call the pharmacy casually, they call because they or their loved ones are dealing with health issues, often already stressed or emotional. The least anyone should expect is a little patience and basic politeness. Instead, I felt dismissed and talked over at a moment when all I needed was help with my prescription. I do want to acknowledge that the male staff member who eventually helped me was polite and respectful, which I really appreciate. It shows that compassion is possible at this location, which makes the initial treatment even more disappointing in contrast. Still, the initial interaction with the lady was very disappointing. I truly hope the pharmacy reviews how phone calls are handled and provides better training on empathy, communication, and professionalism. A little kindness goes a long way.

We scheduled an appointment for a vaccine, but when we arrived, they were not taking anyone in. We ended up waiting in the waiting area for 45 minutes with no clear communication. When I asked how much longer the wait would be, the pharmacist responded very rudely. Overall, it was a frustrating and unprofessional experience.

If I could give a zero I would. Plan on a 30-45 minute wait just to pick up a prescription. Been going here for a few months and same story every time. Moving proscriptions to somewhere else
