My mother was injured at work and instructed to visit this Concentra Urgent Care. I have never encountered a more insufferable, disorganized, and blatantly unprofessional operation. During the initial visit, the attending physician clearly stated that my mother would require several weeks before returning to work, along with multiple follow-ups with both the medical office and physical therapy. That level of care vanished entirely on the next visit.
A different physician we visited on a follow-up day didn’t bother to ask a single question about my mother’s injury. When my mother attempted to explain the pain she was experiencing, the doctor impatiently dismissed her and said, “You only think there’s pain. There is no pain there.” This level of condescension and disregard for a patient’s legitimate symptoms is not only unprofessional, it is deeply disturbing. Despite ignoring every concern she raised, the doctor abruptly declared she must return to work the very next day. As baffling as this was, what followed was even worse.
Despite this doctor insisting she return to work immediately, both the physician and the receptionist refused to sign the required Work Release form which I printed and brought to them. This document is from her employer and workers’ compensation provider which they must have signed by the Urgent Care officials before letting my mother return to work. To make matters worse, the receptionist loudly escalated the situation in front of the entire room, publicly shaming my mother for asking for the very paperwork their own doctor had made necessary.
As a result, we spent hours making unnecessary calls, and had to navigate a maze of confusion and incompetence all due to this clinic’s refusal to perform a basic professional obligation.
The behavior displayed by this Urgent Care's staff was utterly unacceptable. Concentra should be deeply concerned that its employees not only mishandled a workers’ compensation case but did so publicly, loudly, and with no regard for dignity, accuracy, or even basic patient respect. I sincerely hope Concentra addresses this shameful conduct, as no patient should ever be treated this way.
