Doctor Patel and his staff do a great job. Overall, I had 3 teeth pulled and 2 implants put in. Total time in the chair to pull 2 teeth and insert the implants was only about 25 minutes. Staff did a good job explaining everything to me and answering any questions. They're very good at what they do, and it shows.

On recent visit to my regular dentist for a routine teeth cleaning, the hygienist found a dark speck (possible tooth decay) next to a previously capped tooth on my dental x-rays. Upon further inspection by the dentist on a followup visit, she determined that the decay in the tooth was so extensive that it could not be saved. This tooth which previously had a root canal would need to be removed. The dentist mentioned that after the tooth has been removed, I had the option to either get a tooth implant or a bridge. She referred me to Dr. Patel, a dental oral surgeon, for the tooth extraction and consultation. On my first visit to Dr. Patel's office, I meet with Ms. Preslie Stovall, an Implant Treatment Coordinator, to discuss if I want a dental implant or dental bridge after my tooth extraction. She explained the difference between a dental implant and a dental bridge. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root base surgically placed into the jawbone. Advantages: Permanent solution, Preserves jawbone health, Restores natural tooth function and appearance. No need to alter adjacent teeth. Disadvantages: More expensive. Requires surgery and healing time. May not be suitable for patients with poor bone quality or gum disease. A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) structure consisting of one or more artificial teeth supported by adjacent teeth or implants. Advantages: Less invasive procedure, More affordable than implants. Can replace multiple missing teeth in a row. Disadvantages: Can put stress on adjacent teeth. May require replacement after 10-15 years. Not suitable for large gaps or when adjacent teeth are not healthy. I chose to get a dental implant if my jaw bones were stable enough to support it. The Implant Treatment Coordinator lead me to a full mouth x-ray machine to take images of my mouth, jaw, and teeth. Dr. Patel, dental oral surgeon, reviewed the x-rays and met briefly to interview me to be sure that I would qualify for the dental implant. He mentioned that based on the x-rays , I would be able to get the dental implant in the same session immediately after the tooth is extracted. I needed to get health clearance from my oncologist because I was concurrently undergoing cancer treatment. After procuring a clearance from my oncologist, I was able to schedule my dental procedure. The nurse/dental assistant toke profile images of my face before the start of the procedure. Dr. Patel, the dental oral surgeon, injected a local anesthesia in the area of the tooth that will be extracted. After waiting about 10 to 15 minutes for the anesthesia to take effect, Dr. Patel started extracting the decayed tooth. Immediately afterward, he prepared the vacant tooth slot and installed the dental implant. Dissolvable sutures were used to close the surgical area. The whole procedure was completed professionally and efficiently in just under 1 hour. Verbal and documented post-operative instructions were give on how to manage any issues. Pain killer and antibiotic was prescribed to manage the possible pain, swelling, and infection. Gauze was supply to control any excessive bleeding. I only needed the pain killers on the first day after the surgery. I did not have any excessive bleeding or swelling in my mouth or face. The antibiotic was taken for 7 straight days. I am scheduled to return after 4 month for Dr. Patel to check the progress of the dental implant healing. Overall, the after-effect of the oral surgery were minimal. Dr. Patel and his staff were all very professional, efficient, and courteous.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed here, and I can honestly say the whole experience was so much better than I expected. The staff were very welcoming and easy to talk to, which really helped calm my nerves. A special thanks to Isaiah, who took such great care of me from start to finish. He was so patient and helpful. My family really appreciated how he answered all of their questions so they knew exactly how to take care of me once we got home. The recovery guidance was clear and very reassuring. I’m grateful for their kindness and professionalism! :)
