I had high hopes for this medical professional as I had done some research and it seemed like she was a good option. I saw Patricia McWhorter during a time of severe depression and suicidal ideation, hoping for professional help and support. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, negligent. I was advised to "watch funny movies and laugh," which felt incredibly dismissive and inappropriate given the seriousness of my mental health crisis. Even more troubling, it appeared that she fell asleep during our session while taking notes. She also repeatedly brought up her political views and details about her vacation, which made the session feel unprofessional and disorienting. The session ended abruptly and I was rushed out the door with no treatment plan, and no help. As someone in a vulnerable state, I didn’t know how to respond. She was the licensed professional, and I assumed she knew what she was doing—leaving me in a confusing and uncomfortable position. It has taken me months to find a therapist who listens, takes my concerns seriously, and offers meaningful support. Coming out of my depression and working with a competent provider has made me realize just how inappropriate and harmful that earlier experience was. It takes a lot for me to stand up for myself and actually say something, but I feel that this kind of treatment is dangerous for vulnerable people, like myself. I share this in hopes that others struggling with their mental health find professionals who treat them with the care and respect they deserve.

This lady is an absolute joke! I had an appointment for today at 2:30, she called me and said I missed my appointment yesterday which was a Sunday. She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to reschedule my appointment that was upcoming. I seriously think this woman is very confused and I would not trust my mental health to her I hope others feel the same way

"If I were you and had lots of money, I would put her in a nursing home." I brought my mom to this lady for various traumas. That was not the answer I am looking for. Don't bring your elderly loved one here.

Patricia is very nice as a person. Her method is listening... only listening. So if you are referred to her because you need someone to help you through huge communication barriers with a spouse, I would suggest going elsewhere. If you are looking for a therapist that can actually work through your deficiencies and help use a researched and proven method she is not the right fit. We my husband and I both saw her to work through some communication barriers, and some trust barriers. We went in for a few months and made it very clear we needed more help than listening. We both came to hate going in. It was not beneficial at all. She allowed us to get into arguments in front of her, one of which was a complete power imbalance. Her only method to stop it was to say let's take a break and not actually enforce the break. When we asked for tactics, strategies or a script to help us work through our communication barriers her response was to read a book she read while she was in school many years ago (so I am not sure how effective with the new ways it is). This was sad because we went to her to help us, not tell us to read something that she was supposed to be teaching. If we were capable of just learning by reading we would not have gone to her! What is the point of having a therapist that is not going to provide therapy. Any random person can read a book..... we need someone to actually help. We asked at multiple sessions for more specific help. She would give us a random thing like write a list of goals and bring it in. Then she said oh these are good goals.... no practices, or strategies to get there. If you need someone to just listen and validate you she would be the perfect fit. However, I would not recommend her to ANY couple.
