I noticed that what the staff told me about my wife’s situation was completely different from what she shared with me. She chose to come here on her own to get better, and I know she had no reason to lie. It seems like the staff are so used to gaslighting and manipulating patients (many of whom are there involuntarily or under pressure from parents or others threatening to cut off support) that they assume those same people will automatically believe whatever the staff says. I was also disappointed with how they handled her treatment, especially since I was forbidden from seeing her on any reasonable terms that could have been worked out, aside from a couple of brief visits here and there. They tried to convince us it was for the best, but in hindsight, there was no real reason for it.

Corner Canyon helped me set my life back on track. I couldn’t be more thankful for the lessons and experiences provided to me in this residential setting.
Jaden is an incredible and caring house manager that keeps the chaos of what mental health treatment is under control.
Joe C. handles the craziness that weekends often bring with grace, and brings a sense of calmness and killer advice that is hard to find in this world.
Dante, Ricky, and Kobe are genuinely some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. They truly care about people and their struggles and always lend an ear through ups and downs.
The chefs are incredible and I couldn’t imagine my time in the kitchen being any better with people other than Dan-O, Trent, and of course miss Jody. Teachers and confidants alike.
My ladies Breanna and Chelsea are going to be remembered forever, as they share so many similarities to my very best friends who share the same names. What a great sign to show me I was in the right place.
Nick and Obia always kept it real and treated us like we were adults and never took from our capabilities or infantilized people.
So many others were there for me along the way, you know who you are.
Thank you, sincerely, for accepting me and your help in my start to becoming the woman I need and want to be.
Forever grateful,
-Alix

I waited 6 days (and made multiple phone calls) after providing my insurance information and filling out an extensive form… I followed up multiple times again today, just to be spoken to like this. I also requested a call from someone else when I called them earlier today, but nobody ever called me.

Corner Canyon provided a safe and nurturing environment for our daughter during her recovery. In particular we appreciated all of the activities that kept her occupied. Her therapist Kiera was fantastic as well.

Corner Canyon saved my life.
Amid figuring out I was transgender out of “nowhere” earlier this year, proceeding with a divorce from my wife, and receiving some pretty negative responses from family members, I was at the lowest point in my life and having extremely serious suicidal thoughts.
At the behest of my therapist at home I started researching inpatient programs and Corner Canyon was one of the few places that even mentioned helping treat transgender clients in regard to specifically mental health and not strictly substance abuse. I submitted a request form and quickly received a call from Shaun who listened to what I was going through and answered all of my many questions surrounding treatment, as this was something extremely foreign to me. A few things that stood out to me in making my decision is that Corner Canyon often have trans or gender fluid clients and staff is trained on pronoun usage. Further, their Medical Director specializes in hormone balancing and would be able to help dial in my levels as I had only been on HRT for under 2 months at that point.
I arrived in Utah from Wisconsin a week after my first call with Shaun and immediately was being called by my new name and pronouns that I was trying out for the first time. All of the staff made me feel welcomed and invited! The facility is clean, well organized, and spacious. The entire house is reset every night by the grave shift and a professional cleaning team came in multiple times a month for an intense deep clean. I was roomed up with other trans clients during my stay which helped a lot in making me feel comfortable and not as alone.
The food during my stay was AMAZING! Thank you to Daniel, Trent, and Jodie for cooking up 3 meals 7 days a week and keeping me well fed! On weekends clients are able to go shopping for personal groceries and items but that was rarely needed as the kitchen is kept extremely well stocked and open to clients when the chefs aren’t actively working. If you need someone to talk WRASSLIN with, Daniel is your man, I enjoyed watching some WWE and AEW with him during some free time and getting to know the whole team on a personal level as well.
The staff and mentors are a huge part of your day to day healing and are there to listen, converse with, offer advice, help you when you need a big cry, and give you a laugh when you need that too. Everyone there truly cares and many have been in similar if not the exact same situations as many of the clients. I can’t say enough about Porter, Tyler, Mikaela, Dante, Koby, Nick, Marissa, Corbin, Cam, Joe, Pep, Val, Malcom, Jan, Randi, Jasmine, Scott, Jaden, Ricky, Quinn, and many others that I’m sure I’m forgetting. They helped so much in getting me through every single day. Thank you.
Each client is given a therapist who you’ll meet with at least twice a week and you’ll attend multiple group sessions every day Monday through Friday. I got to this low point in my life by keeping everything in, both purposefully and unknowingly, so I went in with the mindset of being a completely open book. I encourage others to arrive with a similar mindset. Sharing my trauma and experiences in group was relieving in a way I didn’t know was possible, seeing so many others who are going through similar problems helped me feel less alone and helped ease my pain. I was there because I was unwell and continuing to keep things bottled up wasn’t helping. I was paying this team to help me get better and I put my faith in them fully and I emerged in the best mental state of my life.
I spent 2 months in Draper and while I got through SO MUCH in my time there I’m still working on myself back home and the team at Corner Canyon gave me the tools to deal with my shit and figure myself out. I use many of the same skills and practices that I learned in my time there in my day to day life since leaving. I’ve never done groups before but I left every single session learning something new. The mental health healing process is not fun, but if you put in the work while there you will get better. Continued in picture
