I’m writing this with such a sad and defeated heart. I set up to get picked up from Portland OR to be taken here for detox and recovery. April 1st they pick me up at 11am. After the over 2 hour drive I start to have some auditory hallucinations as usually follows coming down off of a bender for me, which includes thoughts of self harm. Once I arrive at Virtue they have me talk to a what I think was a counselor, Caitlin was her name. Following our talk they send me packing to the ER with all of my stuff. Once at the ER I talk to doctors, a social worker, etc. Now that I start feeling more calm at that point they call Virtue to see if I can go back and do the program I originally traveled over 2 hours for. They wouldn’t take me back. I don’t understand why. I don’t understand why they sent me to the ER in the first place after arriving. I ended up having a friend drive to get me and take me home (over a 4 hour drive total for her) back to Portland. It is the most defeated feeling reaching out for help and then being tossed away for (what it feels like) someone else to deal with. I write this with tears in my eyes because now I’m back home and feeling as helpless as before if not MORE for being turned away when I need the help the most when they had already approved me for care.

Virtue Recovery created an environment where healing was possible, and made it as pleasant, as can be, when I was at my most vulnerable. The medical team stayed attentive to my symptoms and comfort, and the staff checked in consistently, making sure I never felt alone or overwhelmed. They made me feel safe, treating me with the utmost patience and respect, every step of the way. I’m deeply grateful for the care I received. They continue to check on me, even still today, reminding me that their treatment doesn't end at the door. It means so much to have such ongoing support through this very difficult chapter of my life.

This is one of the best places to detox at, a nice view of the ocean, queen size bed, meals are brought to you the first 3 days while you’re resting, easy access to the restroom, a tv in the room for you and your roommate. And if you want to go outside to smoke your cigarettes, you can ( anytime) . The staff is caring and they check in with you after you get discharged to see how you’re doing and if there is anything they can do to help. It’s hard to get to the door, the other part is just doing it and having a different perspective of how you want your life to be. I would recommend this to anyone. Thank you for the opportunity. ❤️

From the moment I walked in I felt welcome. The staff is great and eager to help in any way they possibly can. I would definitely go back if it's ever needed again in the future.

understand that rehab is not meant to be fun, and I truly came in ready to accept help it took effort for me to walk through the door. When I asked about being discharged on my first day, the staff member I initially spoke with was kind, respectful, and handled the conversation appropriately. Unfortunately, one staff member inserted himself into the conversation and spoke to me in a belittling and dismissive manner. While standing over me, he made comments such as, “Do you know where you’re at?”, “What did you expect?”, “All rehabs are the same, so don’t expect it to be fun,” and “You’re just gonna leave and go have fun you just want to go drink.” His tone and approach made me feel uncomfortable and intimidated rather than supported. This interaction overshadowed what had started as a positive experience. People come to rehab in vulnerable situations, and professionalism and basic respect truly matter.
