I went in for a cleaning and Jacob Kohanoff did my cleaning. Right away, I got a weird vibe from his attitude. He asked me rhetorically, sarcastically, “Do you know what deep cleaning is?”
I asked him how much Invisalign would cost compared to braces. His answer? “It doesn’t matter, $6,000 for both.” That was it.
No explanation, nothing. Just a dismissive response that showed he didn’t care about actually helping me understand my options.
The whole time he was working on me, he didn’t warn me about what he was about to do. No “okay, we’re gonna do this now” or “take a breath” etc.
These are basic things, just common decency for how you’re supposed to treat a patient I believe.
I wasn’t buying his shtick. Never setting foot in that place again.

Highly recommend. The front desk attention is impeccable and they were keen on helping me during an urgent situation, accommodating a short notice appointment. Dr. Afar is a great professional and dealt with a complicated case in an efficient and understanding way, providing information and reassurance during the whole process. I have lived in 5 different countries and it is always extremely difficult to find a trustworthy dental doctor that properly handles difficult situations. I extremely recommend Mid Wilshire Dental Care and I will proceed with the implant treatment here without a doubt. Highly recommended!

I’ve been coming here for several years now, and I truly can’t say enough good things. Everyone in the office is welcoming— and it didn’t take long for the team to make me feel like a welcomed regular.
I regularly see Azi for cleaning, and she really is the best. My teeth are definitely thanking me! Highly recommend.

I would highly recommend anyone looking to have oral surgery done at this location to reconsider. I had a lingual frenectomy performed by Dr. Afar in this office in mid November. I have had serious complications and permanent damage from the surgery.
I was assured by the surgeon he was comfortable and up-to-date on current frenectomy practices. It was clear to me within the first few hours post-op that he hit a nerve and created serious complications. A tongue specialist recently analyzed the footage I had of the initial surgery and observed 1) significant oral bleeding atypical of a frenectomy procedure and 2) thus going blind cutting through blood-covered tissue. Because of this, my post-op recovery was excruciatingly difficult. I couldn’t eat solid foods for 2 weeks, had significant speech and swallowing issues, and have permanent numbness and mobility restrictions under and around my tongue. As a singer and professional voice user, this has significantly impacted my quality of life and career, indefinitely.
I have spent thousands in appointments and surgery revisions to correct the damage Dr. Afar has done to my tongue. Please reconsider ANY surgery you have by him or at this dental location.

Came here for a second opinion. I felt they were much more honest about what I really needed done and didn't try to over sell me on services. They understood I was on a budget and helped me figure out my insurance and the best way financially to get the work I needed done. I feel like they genuinely care about my well-being. I have recommended this practice to others and they too have been very happy.
