DON’T GET FOOLED. My mother lived in the Memory Care unit at Park View Estates beginning in November 2024 and ending in December 2025. Based on our experience, there are issues prospective families should understand before choosing this facility. Yes — the facility is attractive. At first glance it appears bright, clean, and well maintained. Unfortunately, that does not necessarily translate into consistent care. State licensing records from 2021 show that the Park View’s Memory Care rooms included emergency pull cords in resident bedrooms and bathrooms, as required by state regulations at the time the facility opened. That same report also stated that all residents would be provided wearable alert pendants to be worn at all times. Even the brochure we received when visiting the facility clearly stated that the suites were “equipped with an emergency alert system installed for summoning help from your care team.” However, when our mother lived there beginning in November 2024, we did not observe functioning emergency pull cords or call buttons inside her Memory Care rooms. The locations where pull cords would normally be installed were covered with electrical plates (see photos). They did offer wearable pendants, but they are not mandatory and there is an upcharge (an additional monthly fee). The only fixed emergency call buttons we observed were located outside the resident rooms in the hallway (see photos) which are not compliant with State regulations related to in-room call systems. Because of these concerns, we filed complaints with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) in March, May and September 2025 regarding the emergency call system. In January 2026, CDSS sent us their investigative finding. The investigation found that the facility’s call system does not operate from residents’ rooms. After we raised these concerns and pursued the state complaint process, our family was subsequently served with an eviction notice. Ultimately, even though it was traumatic for my mother to leave her newly found friends, we chose to move her to another facility that has a functioning in-room emergency response system. Another issue families should understand involves Park View’s Medical Director. This is the person whose opinion can influence whether a resident is allowed to remain at the facility or be evicted. We learned that the Park View Medical Director also serves as a medical consultant for a law firm that represents assisted living facilities against residents in resident-related disputes. This dual role, in our view, raised questions regarding the independence of the medical determinations affecting our mother’s residency." If you do rely on the pendant system, response times may vary. In our experience, responses were slow and there were many occasions where we either had to call the front desk ourselves or drive to the facility to resolve an issue. Families researching this facility on the CDSS website (and all should do this) should also understand that complaint investigations can take a long time to appear on the State’s public licensing website. For example, the most recent investigation posted in February 2026 related to health and safety issues that allegedly occurred in 2023, roughly three years earlier. We currently have several complaints that are more than six months old that still have not appeared on the public site. Finally, carefully look at the nature of some of the 5 star reviews here. Several are from vendors and/or employees. There are simply better options out there for your loved ones. The photos attached to this review are from my mother's unit. The first one shows an electrical cover plate by the bed where a pull cord or panic button should be. The second one shows the help button outside the room (should be inside the room) The third photo shows the motion light sensor in the bathroom - no pull cords or panic button.

It's a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there. They take the "assisted" out of assisted living.

Frequently Asked Questions About Park View Estates Assisted Living & Memory Care

Do memory care residents at Park View Estates require a specialty diet?

There are dietary recommendations that can help your loved one stay as healthy as possible despite a dementia diagnosis, but it’s also important to keep in mind their changing physical body and how that impacts their diet as well. For example, a newly diagnosed person who is in the early stages of dementia will generally need a diet rich in specific vitamins and nutrients, which can often be provided at home with special effort. However, over time, memory care residents with dementia decline both cognitively and physically. A consequence of this challenging decline is a change in swallowing, which might necessitate thickened liquids and ground or pureed foods. Close monitoring from qualified caregivers at Park View Estatescan ensure these changes are made at the right time.

After receiving a Dementia diagnosis how long will my loved one require Memory Care at Park View Estates?

Alzheimer’s dementia is a lifetime diagnosis. Most residents can do well with part-time in-home care (often provided by a family member or home health care providers) for a period of time ranging from a few months to a few years following initial diagnosis. Assistance from adult daycare providers can provide respite for caregivers during this time. However, because Alzheimer’s is a degenerative disease, your loved one’s needs will continue to increase over time, making full-time care in a memory care facility, such as Park View Estates, a necessity. This care can range from 2.5 years to up to 10 years depending on your loved one’s overall health and wellness in addition to the progression of their disease.
