When I enrolled my 88 year old dad, I got a chance to speak with Angela Williams the Home Care Liasion. She was very professional and knowledgeable in Home Care Assistance. She explained everything so thoroughly during the presentation; I barely had any questions to ask her. I knew right then, I had made the right decision in choosing HCA. I also want to thank Vernita Metoyer the Client Manager for doing a fantastic job! She arranged for my dad to have a caregiver who is very dependable, caring, tentative, patient, hard working and friendly. My dad really likes her and look forward to her coming to the home to assist him. I have peace of mind, knowing that my dad is in the best of hands. Thanks again for all that you do in caring for our loved ones and making sure they are happy.
Frequently Asked Questions About TheKey - Senior Home Care
What is home care?
Home care is a supportive service provided by a professional caregiver in the home or community where a resident lives (in addition to facility supports) for peace of mind, companionship, and personal care. Caregivers can perform tasks such as running errands, preparing meals, assisting in the shower, fall prevention, and initiating brain stimulation activities to stimulate cognitive function.
How do I find the best caregiver for my loved one?
The best caregiver is an experienced professional who has the training and skills to support your loved one’s care needs. It’s also imporatnt to find a caregiver who’s extremely reliable, has back-up if necessary, and is a good fit in terms of personality and shared interests.
How much does home care cost?
Home care is typically billed by the hour, so the cost depends on the number of care hours per week and can vary slightly by region. Most families pay out-of-pocket for their care or use long-term care insurance.
How are you protecting your clients from COVID-19?
We follow infection mitigation best practices and safety protocols, informed by the CDC and local authorities, and provide appropriate PPE to our caregivers. The majority of our caregivers and Care Team members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Is a home care agency better than hiring a private caregiver?
If you value safety, security, and reliability, yes. A quality home care agency is insured and also manages the performance and scheduling of its caregivers, handles billing and payrol, and has back-up caregivers to fill in when needed. With a private hire caregiver, you’re responsible for setting up payroll and withholding taxes, caregiver vetting and background checks, and purchasing sufficient liability insurance to cover any accidents or injuries in the home.
Will my long-term care insurance cover home care?
It depends on your policy. If this is your first time using your benefits for home care, it’s best to contact your insurance provider to be sure that you have an active claim, confirm any applicable elimination period, and clarify the services covered under your policy. TheKey is an approved provider with most major Long-Term Care (LTC) insurance carriers-and we have a free service to help our clients navigate all aspects of the claims process.
If you need long-term care insurance help to initiate a new claim or need guidance with an existing claim, we have a dedicated team of long-term care insurance experts ready to help.
