  My experience started off great, and for a while I felt confident that I had chosen the right office for my gastric sleeve procedure. Unfortunately, as time went on, certain things that should have been one-time oversights became the norm. The biggest issue was that the original doctor I was scheduled with—who had evaluated me and discussed a possible hernia-related variation to the procedure—suddenly was no longer part of the office. No one informed me of this at any point during my months of preparation. I only found out days before my surgery. I was told I could switch to another doctor, but that I would have to restart my entire process with insurance and repeat all prerequisites. That made me feel like I didn’t matter as a patient. I ended up meeting the surgeon who actually performed my procedure on the day of surgery, right before going in. The hernia-related adjustment the original doctor recommended was barely discussed, simply because no one had arranged for us to talk beforehand. While I understand medical decisions may change, the lack of communication was unacceptable. Throughout the rest of the process, communication continued to be a problem. I was told repeatedly that I would receive emails with information I needed—especially regarding vitamins—but I never did. When I finally asked in person, I was given a pamphlet with too many options and little guidance. I didn’t feel supported or educated, just rushed. After surgery, my first follow-up appointment never happened. I had to move states unexpectedly and scheduled a virtual appointment, only for it to be canceled the day before because the doctors were no longer being paid for virtual visits. I had already completed my bloodwork, and no one informed me earlier that virtual visits were no longer allowed. When I asked for a courtesy appointment since this was my first post-op visit, the answer was simply no. That said a lot about how little the practice values patient care, despite the significant cost of this surgery. If all you want is to get the surgery done, this office may be fine. But if you want to feel cared for, heard, supported, and guided through an important and life-changing medical procedure, I would recommend going elsewhere.

  Dr Terry and his crew was amazing they made my girls feel so comfortable and at ease they helped with the whole process and never not answer any questions the girls. ms Bobby Jo and me gabby were incredible and ms Lin Lin helped them so much through the classes. We highly recommend TLC to anyone who wants to go through the weigh loss process this pic was taken 2 months after surgery and they are now both under the 300 lb mark

  I really enjoyed coming to Tlc. It has changed my life. I was 333 pounds. When I had my gastric sleeve I am 252 pounds now I love this wonderful change and I had my surgery in May. It’s already October. I’m looking forward to a complete transformation. Thank you, Dr. Scarborough and the whole team.
