I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Baer. He was extremely kind, caring, and patient with me. He took the time to go over all of my paperwork in great detail to ensure nothing was overlooked and provided a very thorough diagnosis of adult ADHD. His knowledge in this field is outstanding, and he made me feel both heard and understood throughout the entire process. I truly appreciate the care and attention he gave, and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking an evaluation or support for ADHD. The office was clean, quiet, and in a very convenient location! Very thankful I was referred to him.

I was very unhappy with my experience that I had last year. He did an evaluation to see if I had ADHD. All he did was give me a test on a computer and then tell me I couldn’t possibly have it because I excelled as a student. I’m unique because I have a frontal lobe brain injury and this has caused me to have disorders I didn’t have in the past. He took no nuances of an individual patient into consideration. He talked about himself for half of our session and didn’t listen to me.
If you need an evaluation, I recommend finding another provider. I now am on ADHD medicines and doing much better. He also charged me $300 for an hour of very poor service. There are many other options in the DFW area!

Do yourself a favor, and don't waste your time with Donald! As a disabled combat veteran, my resources referred me to Donald Baer. I was very excited as I had waited months for this referral to process and was in substantial need for therapy. When I arrived, the first rule of thumb was payment, which I found odd as that is typically taken after services are rendered. During the session, I answered Don's list of questions to give him true insight into my life. I've been in therapy for 10+ years and also well educated to give clear, concise, and detailed answers. The conversation was going well for awhile, and also the room was very temperature warm, which made the session quite uncomfortable. Moving towards the end of the session, I asked Donald if he had any treatment options, homework, or therapy techniques for me to work on until the next session. His reply was "what are some techniques you think will help?" I answered with "to replace negative thoughts with a positive thought." So his response was, "okay, do that then." I asked if he could provide another recommendation based on his expertise. He would not provide any recommendations and felt threatened that I called him out for using my answer and not providing an expert recommendation. He also said "there's no solving your problems." That's not a statement you make towards individual's seeking therapy. In addition, his final statement was "if I give you a recommendation it won't be good enough for you, so do you want another appointment or not?" I was shocked. He refused to provide any recommendations or assistance for my needs, and lashed out at me. I take my journey to self-recovery very seriously and welcome any advice for improvement. After, I made it clear that he did not care about my well-being and that I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a counselor in all the years of my life, he threw his hands in the air and my final statement was "God Bless." This is a crusty old man who doesn't take his work seriously. Your emotional well being and quality of life is of no importance to him. He's there to sit in a room, collect your money, listen to you talk and provide zero tools for your improvement. It would be in his best interest to retire, and your best interest to find another counselor.
