I am sharing this feedback after two identical unsuccessful attempts to treat my 6-year-old son at Smile Avenue, both times with Dr. Lath Yahya. On both visits, my son was given nitrous oxide and local numbing injections for dental fillings. On both occasions, the treatment could not be completed. Dr. Yahya appeared uncomfortable managing a pediatric patient, raised his voice at my son, and ultimately stopped the procedure, blaming my child for his reaction. After the second occurrence, it became clear to me that this is not an isolated incident but a repeated pattern. Children can be anxious during dental procedures, especially after sedation and injections, and this requires calm, confident pediatric behavior management. Unfortunately, that was not demonstrated. Despite these repeated difficulties, there was no acknowledgment of limitations in treating children, and the same approach was attempted again. Only after the situation escalated were we once more referred to a pediatric dentist. I sincerely believe that Dr. Yahya is not suitable to treat pediatric patients, and continuing to do so without recognizing this limitation puts children at risk of unnecessary distress and negative long-term dental anxiety. I am providing this feedback so the clinic can seriously reassess which providers are appropriate for treating children and ensure that pediatric patients are handled by professionals who are trained, comfortable, and calm in these situations.

Horrible experience. Been coming here a while. All 3 of my daughters were seen on the same day, only had communication with the dentist detailing findings and recommended treatment for one of my daughters. Heard NOTHING regarding my other 2 daughters, except for being told a treatment plan and what I would need to pay by a treatment coordinator, whom clearly did not know what he was doing. I was told by dentist for my youngest daughter (13 years old) that a root canal was needed. The treatment coordinator did not even present that to me when I was checking out. I had to tell him multiple times that this daughter now needed a root canal per the doctor can by the dentist (again, this in the ONLY daughter whom I received communication about from the dentist’s exam). The coordinator finally got up to go ask (because I insisted that he go ask to verify) and it was then confirmed that a root canal was indeed supposed to be on the plan he presented to me. I paid a large amount of money to schedule the root canal for the next week. It took me standing at the counter for about 20 minutes to check out (if not longer). The appointment was on Monday. I received a call on Thursday from the same treatment coordinator telling me that unfortunately, the appointment for the root canal would need to be canceled because the dentist “did not look at the X-rays until after we left and she realized that the nerve roots were not fully developed so we would need to see a specialist for the procedure. I asked to speak with the manager, which eventually I received a call back and explained what occurred. I was told she would speak with the dentist and coordinator to see what happened. I was told that she would text me that day to let me know what was communicated and keep me in the loop. I also was supposed yo be getting the money refunded that I paid on Monday. Thursday ended without me receiving call or text back from manager. On Friday, I sent an email asking for an update since I had not heard back as I was told. I received an email response that it was a “simple miscommunication” by the coordinator to me about the reason why the appointment was canceled 3 days later and why I was not told on Monday that they could not do the procedure and we would have to go to a specialist. She also stated that he would be reaching out to me (the same person that provided me with incorrect information). I called and asked to speak with manager, as I still had not received a refund and I had other concerns, and instead of sending me to the manager, they transferred me to the treatment coordinator who contributed to all of this confusion. He said they were having issues with the system for the refund on Thursday but would process on that day (Friday). I told him I still wanted to speak with manager, but of course she wa snot available. And I did not receive a call back from her later that day either. The weekend passed and as of today (Monday), I still had not received the refund. It had been a week since I paid them for the service that they determined after that they could not provide. I will have to pay the specialist that we now have to see money, so my refund is essential. I called Monday morning and asked to speak with manager, and of course I was told she was not available. But they then said that she told them to tell me that they are still having issues with the system for the refund and one option would be me getting a check from them. I opted to get a check, which I had to go back to the office to pick up. I still have not received communication from the manager.
