Visit the Planned Parenthood health center in Austin, TX for emergency contraception (morning after pill), pregnancy testing, STD treatment, birth control, and sexual and reproductive health care.
I don’t understand the low rating other than the fact that women’s care and sexual healthcare are nuanced and delicate things.
I’ve been to this location twice. I wish I could recall the names of all of my providers but they clearly all want to be there. I found them to be dedicated, informative, and willing to work w me on my HRT even when I kindly advocated for a different approach. Maddie, my most recent provider, is a delight. Currently uninsured but between the care and, honestly, the parking, I plan on continuing with PP once I’m insured again.

I had an amazing experience at this location. In these challenging times, Planned Parenthood has provided me and so many others with accessible women’s healthcare and outstanding service. The check-in process was easy and incredibly affordable for my circumstances. The administrative staff was lovely and supportive. The RN who gathered my information, checked my heart rate, drew blood, and handled everything else was both skilled and compassionate. My doctor was absolutely incredible—so knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. Once I get back on my feet, Planned Parenthood has a lifetime donor. I can’t thank you all enough.
More context below, but I wanted to keep it positive above…
I was laid off almost 2 years ago. My OB of 10 years at Austin Regional Clinic and my insurance at the time (BCBS) denied coverage for my “free” women’s annual. They covered the exam but not the testing. What is the point of a pap smear if it won’t be tested? Calling the appointment a “free women’s annual” is misleading and frustrating.

Staff were very rude (accept for the clinician, who was VERY kind). Went in for a visit that I know is 100% covered by my insurance plan (confirmed with insurance). They told me that my visit would “cost like $200 or something”. I asked them to check with insurance before proceeding and they said they wouldn’t. I agreed to the cost of the appointment because I was already there and needed birth control. THEN after I am already undressed on the scary medical table the rude lady came in again and told me they will not be giving me birth control. I laughed and she even smirked because she knew how ridiculous that is. My grievances are as follows:
- rude staff. I was greeted with a “yeah?” Not a “hi how can I help you” or “do you have an appointment”.
- staff talking about sensitive patient information in the waiting room for everyone to hear.
- wrong billing codes.
- made up cost.
- failing to give me the care I made the appointment for.
As my insurance rep would say “I have no idea why they would bill/code it like that. That makes no sense. They were completely wrong.”
I wanted to support what I thought was a good cause rather than a formal gyno but from my experience they do not provide accessible or affordable care… very disappointing.

I was seen today at this location and had such a wonderful experience. The staff was professional, kind, and welcoming. Talesha set the tone right away with her calming and positive energy. Clarissa, who guided me through the patient onboarding, was very understanding and created a safe environment that made me feel comfortable sharing my concerns. Maddison, the doctor who treated me, helped calm my nerves, explained my options clearly, and reassured me that everything was going to be fine. I highly recommend this location for anyone seeking quality care and compassion
