Excellent service, great doctors. We came with stomach pain and my daughter was vomiting. They tested our urine, COVID, and flu. They gave us ibuprofen. The cost of the services, including my insurance, was $2,250.

Last night my 15-year-old son woke me up saying he could barely breathe, so I rushed him to the closest spot I could find. The staff saw he was in pain, told me it would be $500, and handed me paperwork to fill out. While I’m up front with my credit card in hand ready to pay, they kept coming out telling me to “just go somewhere else” because it’s not an emergency and “it’s cheaper somewhere else.” When your kid can’t breathe, who cares about cheaper? I’m standing there trying to pay and they flat out refused to take it. 🤷‍♂️ They basically told me I couldn’t afford it when I literally had my card ready. They wouldn’t help him, so we left and had no choice but to go to the hospital since everything else was closed. Instead of $500, the hospital bill ended up at $1,700 for strep, covid, and flu tests. Why is this place even open if they’re just going to send people away? Luckily I recorded the whole thing, so if anyone wants to see how they treated my son and me, I’ve got it all on video.

Brought my husband to the ER last night with a terrible headache (and let’s be honest, he was being a bit of a baby about it 😉). Nurse Josh was an absolute gem! His bedside manner was so warm and professional that he almost made us forget we were in a hospital. Josh took excellent care of my husband and managed to keep all of us calm during what could have been a stressful situation. It’s rare to find someone who combines genuine kindness with such skilled care. Josh, if you’re reading this - thank you for making a difficult day so much better! The ER is lucky to have you, and so are all your patients.

Frequently Asked Questions About Family Hospital at Lake Travis

Will you accept my health insurance?

Our emergency department accepts all health insurance for emergency visits, regardless of network status. We prioritize your emergency care first, then address financial matters. We collaborate with your insurance provider to resolve the details of your emergency room visit. Please note that all health plans are required to cover emergency room visits at the same level as in-network providers.

How much will it cost without insurance?

The cost of an emergency room visit can vary based on the required medical care. Generally, you can expect to pay between $400 and $1,850 for the visit, including imaging and lab work. For extended observation periods (3 to 24 hours), the self-pay rate is $3,000. If you're concerned about costs, consider our FHS membership program, which covers ER visits. Individual memberships start at $125 per month, with options for couples and families available.
