  I met with dentist Risinger for consultation regarding lower front teeth. The plan agreed upon was to extract 4 teeth that date. I have Delta Dental insurance. The cost that day from me was $800. I paid $400 that day on credit card. The next day, I was to return to his office and pay the remaining $400, which I did. THE NEXT DAY, I received a call from his office wanting to know why I hadn't returned and paid the $400 as agreed. I told the lady I had returned and paid the $400, and I had the receipt from her in my hand. I was beginning to feel a bit of a money squeeze...The dentist made a mold of my gum preparing for a bridge. When the bridge was prepared, returned, and fitted my final payment was supposed to be an additional $1400. Upon those steps being done, I was billed $1550. I inquired why the amount due had risen $150, and she stated Risinger had instructed her to add the $150. She stated I could ask him. Frankly, I had no desire to talk with him. He could have told me about this additional charge ahead of time. I paid and left. Upon completion of the bridge, I returned for fittings. Risinger, as usual, entered the room with no words of acknowledging my presence. He opened my mouth, placed the bridge in my mouth, and very forcefully pushed my jaws together. It was very painful. A word of warning from him would have been helpful. On each appointment with Risinger it was my feeling that he was quite angry about something. I don't recall a single time when he made some simple comment to put a patient at ease. He was very forcefull, even rough. I will not return to his office. My only regret in leaving his office is that his hygienist is outstanding.

  Dr. Jordan Risinger and the entire team at Athens Advanced Dental are outstanding. The office is clean, welcoming, and well-organized, and the staff always makes you feel comfortable and well-informed.   Just days before Christmas, Dr. Risinger squeezed me in and even stayed late to be sure I was comfortable through the holidays. I’m super grateful for the quick, caring service! Highly recommend.

  Dental office (JoAnn) did not submit all the charges for my husbands care back in June but instead told him it was not covered by insurance and had him pay $1400 out of pocket. I had to file a complaint with Delta Dental and JoAnn is still not responding to their requests to resubmit the claim information. Even if not covered, there is a cap they can charge b/c of contract with DD-they clearly have exceeded that amount. My husband had to do all the follow up for his appointments, as they did not follow up on their end as promised. This office, including Dr. Rising have ZERO integrity. I would advise you to go someplace else unless you want to be overcharged and lied to. Response to you: The treatment plan my husband received was the dentist walking by saying “the total is $3800 and your part is $2000 do you want to proceed” as he’s in pain. My insurance pays 80% so you do the math. You provided no printed treatment plan only gave him a credit card receipt. You did NOT submit all the fees for his services and I know that you are aware that you did not. I have a receipt that I got from JoAnn for services and an EOB that shows you did not submit all fees. DD has received no response to their request for submission of ALL fees related to visit. You are very dishonest in your billing practices so don’t tell me I don’t know what is going on or that it’s always about money! It’s about integrity and treating your patients right, you did not!! Yes, the dental treatment itself was fine but you have a hostile office (very rude to your dental assistant) and husband had to do all the follow up on getting things done. No one called him as they said they would. He was told bridge would take 4 weeks and was told “don’t call us, we’ll call you”. Process ended up taking 8-10 weeks.

  Karen is the best hygienist. The dentist though has a poor bedside manner and seems like he’s gonna snap any second. Lacks a friendly personality, and seems bothered to be at work. I noticed this my first interaction I ever had with him. My mom just had dental work and had a poor experience as well with bedside manner and aggression. I would find care elsewhere unless you want to feel like you’re on pins and needles or have rough work done. Mental health is important. Make it a priority to manage, sir.
