I purchased a Chromebook back in Feb of 2025 on sale. With my savings, I decided to get the extended warranty. It's only used for work, and sits idle on my desk most of the day, but figured it would be good to have for the peace of mind.
Fast forward to 2 days ago(Dec 31/25), I was having trouble with the touch screen acting like it was being tapped in rapid succession. I call in and talk to someone at the store about how the warranty works. They tell me they have on site techs, and I could drop it off that day and it would be looked at when they have techs back in from holidays. I told them I'd bring it in on the 2nd for repairs.
I show up and wait in line at the tech desk. When my turn comes, I tell them I'm there to drop off my chromebook for warranty as per the conversation I had with the person on the phone 2 days ago. So, I've already been misinformed about the process. I tell them I've already picked up a replacement Chromebook so that I can still do my charting for my patients, so they can keep the one I purchased there until it's fixed. The guy behind the counter laughs at me and questions if that's okay with me. I literally just told the guy I made arrangements so I would be good without it. Do the techs just not listen? So, this is the second thing that's making me lose confidence in the warranty process.
So, the first guy who was helping me leaves and then sends a different guy out, who had to ask me all the same questions I'd just been asked. They also informed me that there may be charges for repair. For what, I ask. For any physical damage. The guy just looked at the chromebook, and could see there isn't so much as a scratch on it. It literally sits on my work desk and gets used for an hour or so worth of charting a day and playing YouTube playlists. The whole ordeal has been off-putting, and I literally just dropped the thing off for repair so far. I'm not looking forward to actually getting a call that it's repaired, because I'm already under the assumption I'm getting a bill. We'll see, but this seems like a horrible way to conduct business.

The cashier was so warm and friendly (Oct 14, 8:15PM). Such genuineness is uncommon nowadays. Keep that smile on lady!
